About Gene Corrigan

Christine is a second year law student at Syracuse University.

She also just recently won the Law School Haiku poetry contest!

Gene Corrigan purchased this lodge in 1997

Why Gene Corrigan chose Cooperstown

The Lake House is well known in the upstate Cooperstown area. It has a long and rich history that dates from the 1840's. When it became available, we decided to purchase it, renovate it and enjoy living in a historic building. It is where Gene and I had our first date so it holds many special memories for us, too. We are celebrating 170 years of operation as The Lake House moves into 2013.

What makes this lodge unique

Located only 15 minutes from Cooperstown and 20 minutes from Dreams Park, the Lake House is a unique place to enjoy Baseball Country. With 14 bedrooms- all with their own private bathrooms, the Lake House offers the convenience of a restaurant/tavern on the first floor and your own kitchen on the second floor where you can cook for yourself. Third floor has five large rooms with private baths. Fishing, watching the sunset, relaxing with a cold one on the deck or having a BBQ while you watch the kids play on the lawn next to the lake, the Lake House offers families and teams a gathering place to recap the days activities and plan for the next. Large outdoor stage new in 2013 for many events for baseball awards, concerts, Live Music with dancing, Large Festivals.

Best Family Reunion We Ever Had!

  • 5 of 5

We had a family gathering here - 42 people in all. It was a great place to meet. The kids loved running around exploring the lake, woods, etc. My mom organized everything and I know the proprietor was very patient with her in working out all the details. My cousin mailed his golf game - hula hoops and flags, we played golf on the lawn in front of the lake.

The resort is a little slice of heaven with great mountain views, lake views and great for star gazing you just can't replicate in town.

We had a week of memories here that will last us a life time.

Room Tip: The lawn by the lake was perfect for the kids to play.

Warm and Friendly Atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

We've been coming through Richfield Springs and visiting the Lake House for many years. From time-to-time, we stop for a drink or two at the tavern and then enjoy the grounds, and lunch or dine there, but we've never stayed there. We finally decided to, and we're so glad we did. What a wonderful experience -it is a warm and friendly atmosphere - we so much enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and helpful - without exception, treating us as if we were their special guests - at least, that's how they made us feel. Do yourself a favor like we did - we only stayed one night, but having done so, we now can't wait to come back and do it again - and we will!

hotel stay

  • 5 of 5

Chris Corrigan is one of the most hospitable people I have ever met. She tried so hard to keep us comfortable,it was very appreciated. The hotel was very clean and neat, and the mattresses were brand new and very comfortable. Chris was very accommodating for us and it was very nice to have an owner be so concerned for our needs . Our only wish was to have had more time to fish! I would recommend the Lakehouse as a stay to anyone.

5 Star Experience

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Lake House Lodge this past weekend for a little getaway. We found our room very clean and beautiful. Our bed was extremely beautiful and the linens were all fresh. The atmosphere was very relaxing and the view of the lake was amazing. Gene and Chris (the owners) were very eager to ensure our stay was a memorable one. They went out of their was to inform us of events in the area that we might enjoy, as well as, making sure we had everything we needed. The food in the restaurant is top of the line!! We would recommend this place to everyone and will definitely return for another visit!

Great time using the canoe to go to the Island everyday!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I, along with friends stayed four nights at the Lake House in September 2012 after we won tickets to the baseball hall of fame in Cooperstown. The Lodge is a short distance from the hall of fame and is on a good size lake in Richfield Springs. We had rooms on the third floor that overlooked the lake and spent free time using the canoes to row out to the island in the middle of the lake. We would highly reccomend the Lake House for couples who enjoy outdoor activities.
