Aquinnah Martha's Vineyard: The most beautiful Town on Martha's Vineyard. It is about 8 miles from the closest convenience store, and a 15 minute drive from a larger supermarket that offers everything. There are also numerous farmstands, offering freshly harvested veggies and sometimes fresh eggs. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area. The best part about renting a house in Aquinnah are its beaches. There are 4 options: Philbin, the main private beach, open only to residents an guests of Aquinnah. Lobsterville beach on the Northshore, very nice for swimming and fishing. The beach on Menemsha Pond, great for kids and for kayaking or canoeing.
Aquinnah is one of the most peaceful, quiet areas on the Island.
Children: Kids love this quiet, peaceful part of the Island, and teens can catch a bus into town and back. Activities for children abound in Aquinnah. Mainly the beach and all the related activities, there is a fabulous library with plenty of books, dvds, videos etc. and every week there is story hour for little ones. Aquinnah renters may sign up kids at the Chilmark Community Center Summer camp program. from age 3-age 14. No need to sign up far in advance, and come as you like policy, which affords families excellent flexibility.
We are welcoming and caring hosts who like to make our guests feel at home here in Aquinnah and comfortable provide a very clean and beautiful cottage. My husband Brian, who is the Harbormaster of this town, and I have been renting our guest house to many happy vacationers since 1993, and we know how important your vacation is and strive to make your stay restful and happy!
We live near beautiful Philbin Beach, and this magical 5 acre property is simply beautiful. An ancient foundation with massive rocks houses a private, secret garden. The level, landscaped lawn gives you an estate feeling, yet a consciously unmanicured area is host to hundreds of beautiful birds, deer, rabbits, owls and more.
The cottage is cleaned with eco-and organic products, and we take great pride in outfitting it with 100% cotton linens, towels and bedding.
We have been told that our cottage is airy and bright. It feels cool during the hottest summer days, and it is fun to prepare meals in the kitchen that is open to the living room. 2 Sliders allow access to the spacious deck. You can hear and see the ocean from our cottage.
Dear Elaine, Thanks so much for the perfect accomodations - Cozy, Sunny, close to family. WE had a lovely time! Hope I can come back some day. Cheers, Jenny & Family

We've returned to lovely Wake Robin several times for our end of August getaway and can't think of a more ideal place to usher in the beginning of fall!
The attributes of this wonderful, cared-for home are many: light and airy, it is well appointed, comfortably furnished and exceptionally clean. The well equipped kitchen, complete with dishwasher, along with the charcoal grill make it exceptionally easy to enjoy casual dinners in. An open living/dining area and generously-sized bedrooms with treetop views help ensure a relaxing stay.
Perched above a lush grass field -- which our dogs especially love -- the deck provides expansive views and refreshing breezes while remaining private. Perfect for lounging! The large outdoor shower is ideal after long sun-filled days.
Just minutes to some of our favorites on the island -- Philbin Beach, the Gay Head lighthouse, dramatic Aquinnah cliffs, and the panoramic vista at the Vanderhoop Homestead -- and a short picturesque drive to neighboring Chilmark.
Thank you, Elaine, for sharing your home with us.
Looking forward to our next visit,
Clare & Tony
We have been renting "Wake Robin" for many years and cannot recommend it enough! It is situated close to Philbin beach, yet completely private, overlooking a large grass field and views of the Ocean. The house is clean, beautifully decorated, the kitchen is well equipped and it is very comfortable. The deck is large and everything is light and airy. Beside amazing beaches, there are excellent restaurants in Aquinnah and nearby Menemsha, as well as charter fishing, nature walks, biking and shopping. This is a great place that offers something to the whole family.
We have been returning year after year each August to Wake Robin and we are always delighted! It is always as light, fresh, and clean as can be with the ocean views & breezes to remind us why this is our favorite vacation house on the Vineyard. Set high above a large green field, it provides plenty of privacy & panoramic views - whether you are gathered with friends & family in the great room or around the large umbrella table on the deck. The well-equipped kitchen and charcoal grill are perfect for preparing seafood feasts. The outdoor shower is spacious and private. And did I mention the view of the star-filled night sky from the deck? We can't wait to get back!
Aquinnah is the westernmost town on Martha's Vineyard. It is an area sought after by those who love peace and quiet, and a laid back, easygoing lifestyle. There are beautiful sunsets here, due to the western exposure to the sea. Aquinnah is a small peninsula and a wonderful place for any type of watersports. We enjoy the best beaches and ocean views on Martha's Vineyard.
Other Activities: Shellfishing, berry picking, sailing, surfing, beaches, Seafood, hiking, biking.
