Aquinnah Martha's Vineyard:
Aquinnah is the westernmost town on Martha's Vineyard. It is about 8 miles from the closest convenience store, and a 15 minute drive from a larger supermarket that offers everything. There are also numerous farmstands, offering freshly harvested veggies and sometimes fresh eggs. There are a number of excellent restaurants in the area. The best part about renting a house in Aquinnah are its beaches. There are 4 options: Philbin, the main private beach, open only to residents an guests of Aquinnah. Lobsterville beach on the Northshore, very nice for swimming and fishing. The beach on Menemsha Pond, great for kids and for kayaking or canoeing.
Aquinnah is one of the most peaceful, quiet areas on the Island.
Children:
Kids love this quiet, peaceful part of the Island, and teens can catch a bus into town and back. Activities for children abound in Aquinnah: We have a summer sailing camp, the beach and all the related activities, there is a fabulous library with plenty of books, dvds, videos etc. and every week there is story hour for little ones. Aquinnah renters may sign up kids at the Chilmark Community Center Summer camp program. from age 3-age 14. No need to sign up far in advance, and come as you like policy, which affords families excellent flexibility.
