My family stayed at Tirzah's Cottage for the first time. The cabin is located in a neighborhood, right next to other homes, in case you are looking for something more isolated. We checked in to find that the cabin had not been cleaned or checked from the previous guest. The bathroom and kitchen were dirty, food was left on the counter and in the refrigerator. I'm not even sure if the sheets had been changed from the previous guest. When we were looking for a mountain getaway, we expected it to be at least clean. We are not planning to stay at the cabin again.
Owner's Response: We are disheartened that this review has been sent in; however, we appreciate the opportunity to respond. The claims are unsubstantiated. As any property owner will attest, we, in the hospitality business, do not depend on guests to clean our properties. If we did, we would soon be out of business.
The cottage is always cleaned when a guest departs and re-inspected prior to any other guest coming in. There is a basket with new complimentary coffee packs and sugar packets on the counter. Other than that, there was no other food left on the counter.
We find it important to note that the guests stayed the two nights they had booked in spite of their statements. The accommodations were clean and therefore, they stayed. We have been with VRBO for over ten years and our record speaks for itself.
We also note from their review that the guests were looking for a remote location. We make it a point to inform all guests that the cottage is not remote. If this was not relayed clearly, it was an oversight and not intentional. The guests did not inform us that they were looking for a remote location. If they had, we are sure they would have found a cabin more suitable for their vacation plans and they would have avoided this experience. We wish them the best in their future travels.
