We never wanted to leave!

  • 5 of 5
We had such an amazing time here. We loved spending time in the open kitchen and on the porches and also loved the location of the cottage. There is so much to do nearby and yet you still feel as though you are in a secluded little oasis. We were so sad to leave this place and found it very difficult to fall asleep our first night back home without the sound of the frogs and birds.

Simply Amazing!

  • of 5
I think this was one of my favorite rentals of all time!(I actually hesitate to write a review though, because I don't want it to become so popular that it is booked when I come back...) The location and set up are just amazing for those of us who enjoy nature and being in it. We loved preparing meals in the outdoor kitchen, hearing rain on the roof at night, reading on the porch, and hiking through the coffee and fruit orchards. The owners are wonderful and have done an excellent job at having everything you might need for a wonderful stay (including eggs from their chickens). If you are looking for a resort atmosphere though, go into town, as this place is way too special for your kind. In January it was cool at night in the cabins, so have some layers ready, but hearing the ocean below is pretty incredible. We decided it was the best of "glamping" with a view!

Quite Tropical Paradise with Beautiful Ocean View.

  • 5 of 5
Very nice rental located in a scenic area. Preparing meals in the outdoor kitchen with a beautiful view of sunrises and sunsets was fantastic. Enjoyed taking walks throughout the property and seeing the tropical flora and fauna. We really enjoyed The Coffee shack and Annie's for eating out. Greenwell Farm offers an excellent free tour of their coffee farm with free samples of different Kona Coffee. Walking along Ali'i Drive in Kona for shopping, restaurants and beaches should not be missed. Also check out the farmers markets in the area for fruits, vegetables etc. The Volcano National Park in the evening to see the glow is beautiful. The Black Sand Beach and the bakery at Punalu'u are worth a visit. A kayak snorkel tour to Kealakekua bay in the morning is a must do. Also be sure to go to the City of Refuge and snorkel at Two Step. Mike and Vika were nice hosts. They provided us with fresh fruits, kona coffee, wine and mai tai's as well as valuable information of the area. We would definitely recommend this vacation rental to anybody and are looking forward to returning someday. Mahalo Mike and Vika. Aloha, John & Laurie

A great place to stay!

  • of 5
We have really enjoyed the place. The layout is great, with each bedroom a separate building with its verandah sitting area, and open-air kitchen with no walls lend a feeling of old Hawaii and being close to nature. Large fridge was a plus. Each bathroom only has a shower, that's the only small downside. I would recommend this place to my friends.

Kitchen view

  • of 5
This place was perfect for us! The outdoor kitchen was an awesome place to hang out and so was the lanai. The drive to the property was an adventure every time, so many beautiful plants, flowers and birds. A very private little getaway in the jungle - just right for our 30th wedding anniversary. Mike and Vika were the best hosts we could have hoped for. We are planning to return next year, this spot is so amazing!

Paradise Found

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the HardRock Garden Farm for two weeks in March. The last week we were joined by our son, a student at Hawaii Pacific University. We found this retreat to be exactly what we were looking for--a romantic, quiet, out of the way location with breathtaking views and friendly atmosphere. Mike and Vika were very good hosts. Mike entertained us with his knowledge of the Island and of farming on the Island. We also enjoyed his wide range of knowledge about just about everything (and all along I thought the most interesting man in the world was featured on Dos Equis Beer commercials). We had everything we needed and Vika was delightful responding promptly to questions about things we needed. We love the sleepy and low key atmosphere of South Kona. The geography can be stunning. If you want fancy and high class accommodations, don't stay here, but if you like being outdoors and comfortable, you can't go wrong.
