Not worth the cost

The property was lovely. The house was lovely. However, many of the amenities did not work. The hot tub (which we told the rental property company was very important to us) did not work. We asked for the hot tub to be fixed so that we could use it and they were unable to fix it. The dishwasher broke down half way through the trip. This place did not seem to have any preventative maintenance done to it. The house was not as clean as we'd hoped either. We found cat poop and an old sticky popcicle stick while playing with our babies on the floor. There was also a sticky substance on the wall in one of the bedrooms (like someone had sprayed a soda). The decorations were pretty tacky as well. Overall this place was not worth the cost. If it had been cleaner and the hot tub working it might have been worth it, but still it was too much. The owners only knocked off $100 per night because of the hot tub. This did not seem very generous to me. I would not rent this property again.
Owner's Response: Response to the comments from Katherine regarding Seven Star Property:
Katherine and family checked into the property on Tuesday November 25; on Wednesday November 26 Katherine, called to alert us that the hot tub was inoperable. The pool and spa equipment are state of the art, we responded immediately by contacting the owner’s sons who were in town and they went by the property to check on the system; they then called me back and requested that I contact the pool service. The pool service owner, David was at the property within the hour (David had family in town for the Thanksgiving holiday). David informed me that something was wrong with the heating element and the supply stores were closed for the holiday. I informed the property owner of the problem and he generously gave Katherine, a $100.00 per day refund for the entire stay to compensate her for the unavoidable inconvenience.
To answer the dishwasher problem, Katherine called on the morning of her last stay date November 28 and I told her we could have someone out within 30 minutes; she informed me she did not want anyone out there until later because they were having breakfast. After assessing the problem my maintenance man told me that the drain was clogged due to excessive food in the dishwasher (it was immediately cleared and operational).
The Popsicle stick and so called poop problem has been addressed with the cleaning staff.
Seven Star is a three million dollar property that has been enjoyed by many and our guests have suggested on numerous occasions that it is comparable to 5 star accommodations; we have also had numerous repeat customers which further indicates that the unfortunate problems that occurred during Katherine stay are definitely not the norm.
