CLEAN, COZY, WATERFRONT COTTAGE ON MANISTEE LAKE SPELLS FUN!

Kalkaska Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)

Enjoy your stay at our cozy cottage on Manistee Lake. This cottage in the woods is quaint, and is a place where wonderful memories can be made! This cottage is clean and comfortable. It is a perfect setting that offers something for everyone in your party.

ONE KAYAK IS PROVIDED FOR YOU.

For those who like to cook, there is a newer kitchen and it is stocked with just about all the pots, pans and utensils you would need. We have a waffle iron and mixer for blending some fresh concoctions to enjoy down by the water while watching the sunset.

You can buy the freshest fruits and vegetables, locally grown, home made sauces and baked goods in Kalkaska, not far from the 'CHERRY CAPITAL OF THE WORLD' at the well known -- CHERRY STREET MARKET. See website-- wwwcherrystreetmarket.

Oh' and don't forget, you can cook a great tasting meal using our wood bar-be-que too. (see picture)

Manistee Lake has good fishing for Walleye, Small and Largemouth Bass, pike and various panfish. The lake is not crowded and is fun to fish, explore and look at wildlife, like the bald eagle. Bring your boat or kayaks.

The walleye opening season is the last weekend in April. The same weekend is the Trout Festival happening in Kalkaska.

Whether you want to relax and read a good book at the waters edge, play golf nearby at a beautiful golf coarse, go fishing on your boat or kayak on a very uncrowded and scenic lake. Or take a picturesque canoe trip down the magnificent Manistee River not very far away. Boating, sailing or waterski the wide open Manistee Lake, it's all available.

Great sightseeing is close by, take a short drive to Traverse City, Petoskey, or other surrounding destinations, it is all there for you.

The lovely wooded lot, sandy beach and boat dock, will provide you a place to really relax and have a great time. Just bring your jet ski or boat and launch it across the lake, less than five minutes from the property, and there is a boat dock to use for your visit.

Looking for night life and entertainment? It is just a short 30 minute drive to the newly expanded Turtle Creek Casino! Look for antiques in nearby towns. The cottage is also just a few miles from 1 truly beautiful golf course with incredible views, and about 8 miles to another course. If golf is your pleasure there many more courses within an hour.

The surrounding woods are wonderful for hiking, biking and off roading on the extensive ORV Trail system. There is a dirt bike trail just minutes away from the cottage. Take advantage of the cooler spring and fall weather and ride the many trails that are nearby.

Manistee Lake is especially popular for families with younger children as the sandy bottom extends out and is shallow and safe for play. The beach and shallow water at the property edge is really great fun for dogs to play as their feet can touch the bottom for quite a way out. Fish, waterski, swim, the lake is perfect for all. You can use our kayak and cruise the lake. Have a BBQ on the outdoor river rock BBQ, and take in the fabulous sunsets our lake is known for. We provide some firewood so you can enjoy campfires in the fire pit at the lakes edge...bring your marshmallows!

The whole family along with our dogs, have wonderful memories at the cottage. We enjoyed many fantastic campfires at the waters edge and some great BBQ's while enjoying the outdoors in Northern Michigan. We took many trail rides on dirt bikes and hikes along the many trails and rivers located minutes away. When the time came we experienced some fantastic bird hunting in state land while the fall colors took hold.

Steve purchased this cottage in 1993

Easy drive from Southern Michigan, Indiana and Ohio. The location is centrally located, and close to some very nice towns.

There are many, but for starters. The lake is big and not congested. The walleye fishing is very good, thousands of fish planted recently, along with the ability for doing about all of the water sports.

There is a fire pit at the waters edge, where you can watch the sunsets while roasting marshmellows.

Next, the very close proximity to many trails for offroading, biking and hiking etc.

Then there are some beautiful rivers that are not very far away. They offer excellent fly fishing and canoeing.

In the fall there is hunting for deer and birds on many square miles of state land not to far away.

I could keep going!!!

A GREAT PLACE TO STAY!

  • 5 of 5
Our family had a wonderful time at the cottage! The kids loved being right on the lake and playing in the beach area. The cottage kitchen was well stocked and the outdoor grilling area was awesome! The kids also loved the fire pit by the lake for smores and the kayak. There is also a little gas/corner store right down the street for things that may have been forgotten from home. They also have great pizza and ice cream there as well that we enjoyed. Our little dog " Sox" enjoyed the water too! The beach area is great too because it is not too deep but more shallow so the kids can play. The lake itself was beautiful and peaceful. The owners were very easy to work with and friendly. We would definitely stay again. The cottage is a great place to stay!

GREAT COTTAGE, LAKE, GOLF, ETC.

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at this cottage in August and we were very impressed. The sandy beach and lake were perfect for our 4 and 6 year olds. I could go on about the cottage and lake, but my review would sound like all the others. So ditto all them. I want to point a few others things we liked about this setup. Across the lake from the cabin is an almost all wooded shoreline with very little development. The views are awesome and very private. We saw a bald eagle soaring over head twice during the week. Across the street are many dirt roads which are great for walks or bike rides. Grandview Golf Club is nearby and this course is one of my favorites; beautiful views from almost every tee box, playable wide fairways, wooded, a perfect up north course. We had some rain on one day, so we headed to nearby Kalkaska Kaliseum which has two indoor pools and a water slide. All in all, it was great vacation.

GREAT RENTAL, GREAT VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
This was our second time visiting Mainstee Lake, first time renting this cottage. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. The cottage is very clean & cozy. We slept 6 people very comfortably. The yard is well maintained. The wood-burning grill is awesome...we used it almost every day. The lake is warm and the beach area in front of the cabin is sandy. The kids spent a lot of time in the water. Most of our time was spent tubing, water skiing and fishing. Fishing was best in the evenings. After fishing, we spent time around the campfire. It was enjoyable roasting marshmallows each night. There is a gas station/corner store nearby that made it convenient to pick up the little things. Also serves up great pizza! Make sure you try it.

Steve is wonderful to work with. He made the rental experience easy. We wouldn't hesitate to rent again.

WONDERFUL VACATION--WESTFIELD, INDIANA

  • 5 of 5
My family and I vacationed here this past June and loved it! The cottage was beautiful and very well kept. We had so much fun swimming in the lake and being outdoors. It was so nice to spend the day playing in the sun and then having a fire in the fire pit at night. My 12 year old son had a blast jumping off the dock into the lake. We brought our dogs and they loved being able to swim in the lake as well. It was a wonderful time and we are planning to do it again next year! The owners of the cottage were very nice and easy to work with. They thought of everything that we needed. Had a wonderful time!!!

GREAT GET-AWAY

  • 5 of 5
The owners were very accommodating and the cottage was just as pictured, very neat, clean, and well-decorated. I loved the old-time cottage atmosphere as it brought back many pleasant memories of spending time at my family's cottages on Manistee Lake when I was young. Yet, I appreciated the modern conveniences, especially the great kitchen (even though I didn't do much cooking). The last time I had stayed there, we used a hand pump for water, a kerosene lantern for light, an outhouse, and went to the little store for a block of ice every day to keep the "icebox" cold! That tells something about my age. It was a great get-away to recharge in the peace and quiet!
