Guestbook comments from the owner

Hello Dawn,

I hope all is well with you.

Last June we were blessed with your place for my daughter Delilah and John’s wedding.

It was a wonderful experience except that the wedding was on the hottest day (heat wave) that we were there. We were so glad that the dining area had air conditioning. We closed that room off to keep the cake and flowers from melting as well as the wedding party. We called it the chill room and we (all) took turns cooling off. I would love to send some pix of the property I took maybe you can use 1 or 2 in your rental ad

My hopes is that in the future we as a family can come back for a reunion/family vacation.

Thank you for all your time, care and compassion. I know this is late but do know you were wonderful to work with!

Blessings

Wonderful house and yard

  • 5 of 5
My family of 6 adults spent a wonderful week here. We had 3 dogs between us and it was a great place for all concerned! The house is very comfortable and each room had ample fresh air and open windows. The sunroom is very nice to sit in and read; the yard was fantastic for the dogs (and us); the neighborhood was great for walking for us and the dogs. The beach was very nice; at low tide on a sunny day the water is plenty warm. The beach is also dog friendly, and they loved playing there. The neighbors were all very friendly as well.
There are nice public tennis courts very close by, and several nice restaurants (we particularly enjoyed 42 degrees) also very close by. Not to mention Mary Lou's coffee within close walking distance! Plymouth has history ( we went to the grist mill) and shopping (Colony Place, Mayflower Brewing) within a short drive. In addition, it is very close to Boston if you have family/friends who need to be close or commute.
The house is not for those looking for modern conveniences, although the wifi works just fine.
The hall bathroom downstairs has no shower, and the porch stairs are tall and not greatly lit at night, if any of you have trouble with stairs.
However, the old stove works great, and all the appliances, while not the newest, work great as well!
Finally, Dawn was a fantastic hostess who was available if we had problems (which we did not) and was very welcoming, as was her house. We had a wonderful time and look forward to coming again when we vacation in this area!

Owner's Response: Cindy, thank you! Very generous review ;)

I think folks will be able to see themselves through your experience of the week. I appreciate your mentioning the appliances and all so folks don't expect modern when they arrive...it's still just an old summer cottage for sure! So much of what we love most about it ;)

You will love the house. As soon as I walked in I was amazed, beautiful! My husband and I rented this house with our dog. We were attending a wedding in the area and decided to extend our time with a little vacation and we sure picked a great place to stay. The house was very clean and comfortable, loved the antique stove in the kitchen. A must is the Lobster Pound if you like seafood just a couple miles or so away. Also within walking distance from the house is a great breakfast place. We visited Plymouth Rock, great restaurants in the area, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable time at this house. The owner couldn't be anymore helpful, she was wonderful. I would definitely recommend this property and hope I get another opportunity to stay in it again.

Beautiful Location - Perfect Weather - Friendly People

  • 5 of 5
A group of close friends and I stayed at this location for a single weekend, two nights. We could not have been more impressed by the house and it's accommodations. The walk down the stairs to the beach is longer than the actual walk to the stairs!
We had perfect weather all weekend to top it off, enjoyed a round of golf at a local course, and relaxed at the beach and watched some fireworks at night. There is a quaint coffee shop (Marylou's) walking distance from the house which we went to for breakfast both days.
The beach was a bit rocky, but there is sand spots where you can lay a towel and soak in the sun. Volleyball nets set up nearby, and plenty of spots for some fishing. Plenty of pet-owners were walking the beach, and all the dogs seemed friendly.
The layout of the house is rather old-fashion, but fits well with the surrounding area. Some of the lights did not work properly (the porch lights in particular), but we were able to set up a lamp outside to keep the porch well-lit during the night. The weather was nice enough to open the windows at night and get a cool breeze into the rooms. There was plenty of rooms and mattresses to sleep on if you have a large group.
The grill was a bit dusty, but we were able to clean it easily and fire up some good food. The unfinished basement smelled a bit, but it did not affect the rest of the house and you were not down there for any long period of time. It contained everything to keep the house clean and well-maintained during and after our stay.

Dawn was the best owner I've dealt with trying to set up this trip. She was very kind and wanted to make sure we had everything we needed to have the best weekend possible.

I would recommend this location in a heartbeat to any large group looking for a great getaway.

Owner's Response: Marc, it was a pleasure having you all stay on the property this past weekend. Although brief, you left the house just as you received it and actually offered to clean my grill, which is 'always' appreciated! You're certainly welcome back anytime. I know future guests will appreciate your comments as much as I do. You can attest and I can promise future guests one thing, I always strive do the best I can with what I've got and let God handle the rest...patience & smiling at the day helps too ;) All the best to you, thanks again. ~ Dawn

Notes:
Handicap Access - I had a friend in a wheelchair who used to come to visit every year. She would bring her own ramp to get up on the deck and then had wheelchair access into 1 bedroom/bath in the main house. Beach Stairs - there are 3 flights of stairs with landing and lookout at the end of each flight. If you're concerned about health issues and not used to stairs, take it slow enjoy the view at each landing. They're not steep so kids will be fine - they usually do better than their parents...:)
