Swanson Family Summer Cottage Lakefront vacation home on Oakland County’s Bald Eagle Lake, off I-75 North of Detroit. A great place to vacation on the lake and be able to drive daily to work in the Metro area. Winter vacations can be planned here as this is a year round cottage. This cottage is a great alternative to a hotel room for business travelers when visiting the metro area. Included are fish poles, life jackets, swim noodles, a paddle boat and a dock if you choose to bring your boat or personal watercraft. We have a deck overlooking the lake, a picnic table, grill, plenty of lawn chairs, chaise lounges and a fire pit. Two bedrooms, one with twin beds and a TV. One with a double bed and a TV. The living room has 2 couches. The cottage sleeps up to 6 people. There are one and a half bathrooms and a laundry room. Included are towels, linens, dishes, cooking utensils, No Smoking. Wireless Internet available.

The cottage is located on Bald Eagle Lake, 1 mile south of Ortonville. It is 36 miles north of downtown Detroit. 45 miles to Metro Airport. Only a 15 minute travel to the Palace or Auburn Hills and Great Lakes Crossing mall.

Lakefront cottage rental

I was on an extended business trip in Troy Mi which is about 25 minutes away. I used this cottage as a hotel for a week of that trip. This is everything I could have hoped for and more. No matter how windy the day was the lake was always flat. The fish would come right up to you in the lake. The lake water was warm. The ceiling fans keep the air moving so it didn't get too warm. The neighbors were very nice. The wireless internet connection made it easy to work from the cottage. I would like to go back on a vacation some day.

Great Getaway Weekend!

This lakefront cottage was super! We contacted Don 2 days before our last minute weekend getaway and was pleasantly surprised that he rearranged his schedule to meet us upon arrival. He was most hospitable. The cottage is well stocked with all amenities. Its location is close enough to Detroit to enjoy the city and far enough away to enjoy the many lakes, etc. in the area. We had a wonderful weekend and would think about returning in the future!

Just perfect!

The cottage was just perfect for our needs. It is clean and had all the comforts of home. It is situated perfectly for us to visit with friends and family but still be far enough away from the "city" to be relaxing. We will definitely be back. Thanks for everything!

Great place!

We had such a wonderful time on Bald Eagle Lake. The cottage was well equipped and everything was just right. Waking up in the morning having a nice cup of coffee walking down to the lake and being greeted by the sweet family of ducks along with the beautiful swans,dosen't get any better than that. The name "Cozy" cabin goes with out saying, because not only did it give us that warm feeling, our friends and family felt it as well. Coming here from CA for a visit, it gave us a headquarters, for many friends and family members to visit and everyone had a great time.The lake was so clean, the fishing was excellent, having the paddle boat was fun for all. We would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to stay there. Like our Governator says, "I'll be back!"

Short Get-A-Way

I was looking for a lakefront cottage to get-away from it all for a few days. I didn't want to drive for hours to get there either. I found it! We live in Canton so this was right at an hour from our home. This cottage exceeded our expections also. Perfect little back yard with large shade trees backed up to the lake. My 18 month old loved going out on the paddle boat daily and roasting marshmallows in the evening. It was just my to boys, my wive, and myself, but this cottage could easily accomodate more.

The cottage was well taken care of by the owners also. It was spotless when we arrived and everything worked as advertised. I would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice place on the water to get-a-way for a short, or extended vacation. We really enjoyed it.

Owner's Response: For local Detroit vacationers, this is a great way to vacation "up north" without the long drive. Save some gas and a lot of travel time.
