The 'feel' and geography of the local area:
Nova Scotia is hilly, heavily wooded, and has hundreds of kilometers of coastline on the Atlantic. You are never more than an hour from the ocean anywhere on this peninsula. It is similar in shape and size to Florida but with only a fraction of the population. We are located on a hilltop overlooking a bay giving a stunning view of the Atlantic ocean. The back yard slopes down to the shore. Also, the area we are located in is pretty much rural even though it is on the Lighthouse route going to Peggy's Cove. As such, there are only a smattering of houses nearby. In fact, there is only one neighbor which is about 300 ft away and in the summer when everything is in full bloom - you can barely see them from certain vantage points. The lot is about 2/3 acre.

Nearby is superb semi-private golf course Granite Springs - check it out at link below. Located just 25 minutes from downtown Halifax on the way to famed Peggy's Cove, Granite Springs is a 18-hole golf course that is both beautiful and challenging.
The course layout, overlooking Shad Bay, offers a golfing experience that has become a favorite for local and visiting golfers alike. On Granite Springs, strategy is an invaluable asset that will help the thinking golfer avoid trouble. The fairways are narrow but you will be rewarded for a taking a little off the ball, and going for placement, not distance. The course is scenic, with granite outcroppings and a wide variety of wildlife. A camera is a must for first-time visitors, as you will want pictures of our wonderful golf holes.
Amenities:
There is nothing 'hotel grade' about this cottage. All towels are soft and luxurious and not white ! The beds are done beautifully with new high quality matching sheets with plush down duvets. 4 x-large pillows per bed - 2 foam and 2 feather. There are 2 terry cloth robes in each bedroom for lounging and using the private outdoor hot tub out on the back deck that overlooks the stunning vista of the Atlantic ocean perched high on a hill. We have a large collection of DVD's at available no extra charge.
Nearby is a government wharf that is goood for fishing and which some of our guests have actually caught fish.
