Overall, Villas del Mar II was beautiful. I was in Puerto Aventuras with my husband, parents and 2 daughters (ages 2 1/2 and 4 1/2). It was such a great little town in Mexico. We felt that the area was extremely safe and didn't have anyone selling us t-shirts on the beach or trying to braid our hair. There were many different condo complexes on the beach. The beach was great for walking, as many people spend lots of time walking back and forth. I will say that the beach was quite rocky and not the soft sand that I was expecting. From what the folks down there said, the last 2 hurricanes really did significant damage to the beach and it used to be much smoother, etc. Villas del Mar II was slightly farther down the beach from Villas del Mar I. I have to say that the grounds and beach at Villas del Mar I was nicer than the smaller area at del Mar II. The view from our unit #308 was absolutely amazing. The condo was beautiful, 3 BR, 4 BA. The best feature for our kids was the jacuzzi tub on the expansive deck. They spent LOTS of time in the "small pool". The condo had everything that we needed and the people there were very helpful.
I was able to swim with the dolphins in PA, which was an incredible experience. I would do it again tomorrow if I could !! My husband and father also golfed, which they said that the course was great. They had low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. My dad also used Aquanauts Dive Shop and was very happy with the service he received. We also took a day trip to XCARET. I think that this place was absolutely beautiful and expansive. Overall, the kids had a great time there, we could have spent more time there if we had it. It was a bit on the expensive side ... $69 each for adults, 1/2 for children. We did the Mexican buffet and it was really good, lots of different choices, that was $29 each, 1/2 for children. So, all said, we spent $300 for the day, but it was a great trip.
The food in PA was good, I would not say great, but I will say good. We did take a taxi to Playa to go to the grocery store and stocked up on drinks, breakfast and lunch stuff for the kids. It was a good thing that we did. It was a bit of a walk, which most of the time was great, to the town.
Overall, I loved Puerto Aventures and really loved the condo.

Owner's Response: efforts are being made to improve the beach which has gotten rocky in places but it is still quite easy to walk the entire beach in bare feet. The Villas del Mar II condo where this unit is located is smaller and more intimate than Villas del Mar I which is considerably larger. A positive thing for some people and a negative for others. On our personal web site you can find a complete listing of area restaurants, services and activities. We have a booking agent employed to assist our guests.
