Very Nice Cottage
Review Submitted: October 6, 2009
Date of Stay: September 2009
We spent the last two weeks of September at this secluded cottage and really enjoyed it. We loved the peace and quiet and the fact that we were away from the noise and hustle of the main street in Pigeon Forge. However, we were still close enough to the shopping, to go there any time we felt like it.
The road leading up to the cottage was an adventure in itself. It felt like it was going straight up. We like that sort of thing, but it could be intimidating to those who are not used to it.
There had been a lot of rain, both during the summer and the first week when we were there. Due to the extremely high rate of humidity, It smelled musty when we first arrived, but after airing it out it was fine.
The beds were so comfortable. Usually we don't sleep well the first couple of nights, but the beds were so nice, we crashed and didn't wake up until late in the morning. The bedrooms were very spacious, with lots of windows, bringing the outdoors, inside.
Since the pool was closed up for the winter, we looked forward to using the hot tub every night. It was nice and clean and very enjoyable.
The price was very fair and the accommodations were very nice. I would recommend it to people without hesitation.
Favourite restaurants were: The Old Mill, the Apple Barn and the Texas Grill.
There are so many places to visit, you will never get bored. We went to Georgia, Kentucky, Virginia, North Carolina and all around Tennessee. We highly recommend the blue ridge parkway. It is so beautiful. Also the 60' sliding rock near Waynesville, N.C. Ride the Tail of the Dragon on highway 129 for some driving fun and the Cheruhola Highway in N.C. while you are there. You won't regret that trip.
We'd like to thank the owners for sharing their lot cabin with us.
They were so nice to deal with.
We came from Brampton, Ontario and found the drive could be made in one day. However, I would not advise arriving in the dark if it's the first time you've been there. You could get lost in the maze of roads.
The staff at the gate were really friendly as well. As a matter of fact, everyone we ran into was very nice and polite. That reputation of great southern hospitality is very true. We loved y'all in Tennessee.
We'll be back again!
Owner's Response: We do hope ya'll come back. There is a nice winding road to the cabin. We are sorrry you were not informed by the guards. Shagbark backs up to the Smokies and therefore you do have the mountains.
