Go to sleep to the flicker of a wood stove. Wake up to sunshine streaming through tall windows and skylights onto honey-colored pine flooring. Watch the sunlight fill the river valley from either of two view decks. Beautiful new construction, two and a half-story salt box on ten acres. Open floor plan and vaulted ceiling, tastefully furnished with fully equipped kitchen, two full baths, two wood stoves, new washer and dryer, and large freezer. Loft with DVD/VCR and additional sleeping accommodations. Ground floor has queen bed, private bath with shower. Main floor has sleeper sofa with queen size mattress., and bath with tub/shower. Loft, a double bed. Linens, utilities including cable internet provided. Firewood and snowplowing included. Quiet and serene, but easily accessible from Interstate 91. Minutes from Brattleboro restaurants and shopping. Just 2 hours from Boston, 3 1/2 from NYC.

The New Stairs: Beginning in March of 2009, the sleeping loft is accessed by a stairway. Those of you who remember the ship's ladder will be happy to know that it is much easier to get up to the third level now.

A slice of heaven in Vermont

What an amazing experience. I was looking for technology detox and to relax after the first four months of middle school teaching and I got even more than I expected. The owner was such a pleasure to deal with and the accommodations were cozy and inviting. The house is set away in the woods, but with an amazing backyard view of the mountains. It is very accessible to all the necessities - homemade food, hiking trails, and clean air. The house had two woodburning stoves - one in the dowsnstairs bedroom, and one upstairs in the living area. I loved the loft bed and the skylight windows that either showed off the amazing night sky or got snow covered after a typical Vermont storm. The driveway was plowed for us without having to make a call and the highways are always cleared. Take advantage of all the surrounding towns with the antique stores, homemade pies, and the snowshoeing trails. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to just get away!

A Great Getaway for All

This home was amazing. I went there with 2 others for a short 3 day weekend and we had a great time. The house itself is amazing not including the wonderful view from the backyard.
It had everything we needed and more. The skylights, all over the house, were amazing. We must have had them opened the whole time. The house was clean and well kept and I thought the best part was the book on the table where everyone who ever stayed in the house got to sign. It was great to see the wonderful times people spent. We read the whole book! I would recommend this home to anyone looking for a good time or just a relaxing time.
Also, Jim, the owner of the home, was very polite and helped us any way he could. Thank you so much! We will be coming back soon for another visit!
