About Mark Rabenstein

I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family, especially at our cabin (Crescent Lake Cabin!) For example, in the summer we hike, float in the creek, mountain bike, and fish. In the winter, we ski and sled in the driveway. Professionally, I'm a chemist and a software designer and tester.

Mark Rabenstein purchased this cabin in 2005

Why Mark Rabenstein chose Willamette Pass

As a kid, my family had a cabin. As a parent, I wanted to give the same to my children. They have grown up visiting the cabin. Crescent Lake Cabin is convenient to us; it is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from where we live in Bend (and the same distance from Eugene!). Also, We enjoy the seclusion of 3.5 acres, as well as being on Crescent Creek. The natural setting is also gorgeous, with the creek, meadows with butterflies, and pine trees.

What makes this cabin unique

In the summer, we enjoy spending time at the dock on the creek, and playing with the kids in the creek. We usually don't go to the lake because the creek is so fun and convenient! In the winter, we enjoy walking out the door and cross-country skiing.

Guestbook comments from the owner

This place is a steal! The cabin was actually much roomier than we expected with more sleeping area than it looks like online. The king size bed was super comfortable. The cabin was very well stocked. We LOVED the creek which is huge and fun to use floaty toys to float down and the crawdad trap was a hit with the kids. We also made s'mores at the fire pit and that was great. The balcony with BBQ that overlooks the creek is a great place to sit outside and eat. The two lakes within 5 minutes of the cabin are great for fishing and swimming and you can rent boats at either one. Beautiful, calm place to stay. We brought a few movies to watch at night at there is no cable but if we didn't have the kids I probably wouldn't have.

Thanks,

Matt and Laurie

awesome

The cabin and the surrounding area was just awesome. Had my fourteen year old daughter, and three grandchildren with us, ages 13,9,7. They played in the water none stop. We walked on a couple of the trails in the area. The kids had a great time.

Lovely cabin in a beautiful setting but need to clarify rental agreement

  • 4 of 5
The cabin is in a beautiful spot with a small river flowing through the lot - beautiful, comfortable & relaxing - we really had a wonderful time there. The only quibble, and the only reason my review is less than 5 stars, is an awkward moment at the end of our stay, when the next renter arrived before we'd left. We had no idea they were coming, and had not been told we needed to be out at any particular time (it was 11:30 AM). Additionally, no cleaning service had visited, so the sheets we slept in were still on the beds, etc. We were almost ready to go anyway, so we hurried out to make way for the next renter. That bad moment could have been avoided if it were made clear in advance when renters needed to arrive, depart, and when the cleaning service would be coming.

Owner's Response: Note to readers: check in is 3 pm, check out at 11 am. Between 11 and 3 the cabin is cleaned.

Hannah – I apologize for the confusion about checkout time. The checkout time is listed in the terms and conditions, which I used to email to people. But with the new VRBO direct reservation method, The terms and conditions are there, but they are easy to overlook. I will include it with the directions from now on to make sure it isn't missed.

You wrote a very kind review, especially considering the circumstances.

I'm glad you enjoyed your stay, and again I apologize about the confusion at the end.

Sincerely,
-Mark

Great place for a relaxing time together!

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our time at this cabin. The parents, who are in their late sixties, and the three "kids," who are in their thirties, all had a good time. The cabin is not fancy, but it has everything you need for a comfortable stay. The only drawback is that the steps to the master bedroom are too steep for older people to climb easily, but we just put the young married couple there, and the old folks stayed in the downstairs bedroom. The cabin's location is perfect. Walk out the door and you're by the creek in a minute or two. We spent a lot of time on the dock just watching the water. The dog, a border collie, was absolutely thrilled by the location. We also liked making s'mores at the firepit. This place is so quiet and secluded. Loved it!

Cozy Cabin Bliss

  • 5 of 5
We thoroughly enjoyed the cabin and it's tranquil setting. We adventured on several outings around the local sights and were very appreciative of being able to come back to such a cozy cabin. Fished in the creek some and had a nice fire in the firepit one night and enjoyed some S'mores. We look forward to renting from Mark again and taking our kids w/ us as there's plenty of sleeping room. The woodstove heated up nicely which we greatly appreciated in the cool evenings. So much I could say about how much we enjoyed it, but bottom line is it's great for a lil romantic R&R or a family getaway! Don't miss the chance to rent this lil slice of heaven!
