Located less than an hour from Atlanta, near Amicalola Falls, Monument Place may be the finest vacation rental in North Georgia. We designed and built this home with this goal in mind and we really do work hard at it. Located at 3200 feet above sea level, on the southernmost extension of the Blue Ridge Mountains within one half mile of the intersection of Gilmer, Pickens and Dawson county, the design, construction and furnishing of Monument Place was inspired by our first vacation rental, Paramount Place.
Perched on the top of Sassafras Mountain, Monument Place provides 4300 square feet of finished space, 2000 square feet of covered cedar deck and 1000 square feet of covered terrace level patio. Monument Place is an absolutely gorgeous, custom, executive home on five acres. From this ridge line, you can see over 70 miles to both the East and West. Completed in August of 2006, Monument Place is ideal for 3-5 families, extended families, large reunion gatherings, or a couple that likes a lot of space. Perfect for a small wedding, wedding reception, honeymoon, or all three! With 5 sleeping areas on the perimeter of 3 large, common areas on three different levels, Monument Place has been is designed to accommodate a large group, while still providing privacy to couples and individuals.
Monument Place is very secluded and private, yet only 6 miles from Amicalola Falls State Park, 12 miles from Jasper, and 14 miles from Ellijay. The Ellijay town square has antique shops, art galleries, specialty shops, and a variety of interesting eateries. Ellijay is also the apple capital of the North Georgia Mountains and has an Apple Festival every fall. Our home also convenient for day trips to the the popular mountain communities of Blue Ridge, Helen & Dahlonega, the site of the first North American gold rush and wine vineyards.
Monument Place is conveniently close to prime mountain bike trails, hiking trails, trout fishing on the Amicalola River, Burt's Pumpkin Farm, whitewater rafting & canoeing on the Cartecay and Toccoa rivers, Amicalola Falls, and the Appalachian Trail. This property was literally on the Appalachian Trail until 1958 when the end of the trail was moved 8 miles to the north to it's current location at Springer Mountain. (The center of our view...)
