First and foremost, I can't say enough nice things about the owners of this property. Margaret was wonderful to work with, very helpful and accommodating! She even called us on checkout morning to offer advice on road closures for the drive home.
As far as the cabin goes, everything was first rate, top notch all the way! Photos and descriptions (all very accurate and updated) just cannot do this cabin justice - it overshadows any others we'd looked at, and was by far the BEST, even within this beautiful, secluded, gated community. The long, winding mountain road up to the cabin was the children's favorite part of the adventure, and although there are a couple of cabins nearby, we still had complete seclusion and total privacy. It's obvious this cabin is lovingly well-maintained; it still seems BRAND new, without ANY signs of wear & tear, and everything was spotlessly clean. The cabin was lovingly furnished and decorated with impeccable taste and design. There were amenities galore - we hardly had to pack anything. Even if we hadn't spent a few days on the slopes and enjoying all this fun destination had to offer, the cabin alone would have been a vacation in itself!
Also, not to be overlooked for practicality's sake, the location was excellent. The area is secluded enough to foster a rural vacation atmosphere, but still perfectly accessible to everything. Grocery stores, restaurants all very close, and very convenient to Boone/Blowing Rock, Banner Elk/Beech. Valle Crucis is almost a stone's throw away, and Hawksnest Resort for tubing (the BEST family fun) is right across the highway! Looking back, I couldn't have planned or hoped for better!
There were a few cabins out there for just a bit less $$, but you get what you pay for, and this cabin was worth every penny and MORE. It was overall a great value, and gave us lots of bang for our bucks!
I would highly recommend this property and these owners to anyone! We will most definitely be back for our next vacation!
**tip for travelers & things NOT to miss: brunch or lunch at Canyon's restaurant (the daytime/sunset view is breath-taking!), tubing at Hawksnest, nature walks in Valle Crucis, dinner at the Gamekeeper restaurant (seasonal game meats including venison and a lovely scenic drive to the restaurant), hiking on Grandfather Mountain, and of course all the ski resorts SO nearby**
