The property was clean however I would not describe it as luxury. The screened in spa that was advertised at the time I booked the rental was not working and I was not informed of such until a week before arrival. I received no discount or refund for this. The rental was for 11 people (6 adults and 5 kids) which was in our rental agreement, however, afterwards the owner stated that was too many people for the home. The owner kept a large portion of the deposit due to the fact that she felt we had created too much trash. No trash amount was specified in the rental agreement even though the owner tried to add it to the agreement after our rental. There were 3 families in the home for 1 week and the amount of trash was not excessive. Addtionally, we offered to removed the trash when checking out, however, the cleaning crew told us to leave it in the garage. After discussing this matter with the owner in a conversation in which she would not compromise, she e-mailed me an amended agreement which was different than the original that I had signed. The home also had a large hole the wall...?
Owner's Response: I am very disappointed at the review AnnaB posted for our property. Our rental agreement and the web site stated we could take maximum of 9 people. She pleaded and asked me to allow 11 people in her party. She then had a big crowd of people came to the property for a July 4th party, which was also in violation of the Rental Agreement she signed. In the end, we had 23 large bags of trash left at the property that filled the entire two-car garage. We had to pay a lot of money to get it hauled away.
In addition to the large amount of people and trash, the house was in a terrible condition after they left. There were trash everywhere and soda/juice spills at many places. There was one small hole appeard on the wall. Our cleaner had to ask additional help to get it ready for the next party, for which we had to pay additional cleaning fee.
Yes, we did take $100 of the security deposit to cover the additional trash removal and the cleaning we had to do. This is the only time we took someone's deposit in our years of operation. Also, we felt the party violated our rental agreement in multiple accounts.
AnnaB did call me afterward and I explained to her why the security deposit was taken. She was very bitter and the review she did had many untruthful statements. We had tried hard to accomodate her. We are very sorry to see she posted such a negative review to our property 5 months after they left. We have received many emails from the renters telling us how satisfied they were . We also have many happy return renters. I don't think one bitter review would damage our business.
