OWNERS DEFINITION OF UPSCALE RENTAL:

Having rented many vacation homes in Maggie Valley over the past 25 years, we experienced many that were not maintained well. Mattresses were old and hard, linens were worn or there was an insufficient quantity. TVs were old and lacked many of the channels we enjoyed at home. Much of the décor was whatever the owner had left over from their main house. Then occasionally we would rent a place that was really nice. When we purchased the Bear Den we decided we wanted to do all we could possibly afford to make the Bear Den like the rentals we enjoyed. So, upscale vacation rental to us is ensuring the Bear Den is well maintained, mattresses are comfortable, linens are plentiful, TVs are up to date with many channels to choose from. There is ample outdoor seating. The appliances are replaced periodically. Every spring we do major upgrades to the Bear Den to ensure none of our guests are disappointed. In 2012 we replaced all interior doors with solid wood 6 panel doors and added an outdoor stone firepit.
