This gated town home is surrounded by the Dinosaur & Superstition Mountains just 32 miles east of the Phoenix Airport. The clubhouse includes meeting and living room areas with a gas fireplace and complete kitchen. Outside the clubhouse you will find a BBQ under a covered patio. The home was clean when we arrived. Kitchen is well stocked, including a variety of spices. Comfortable sofa. Large TV, but not HD. There was a substantial DVD library available for our use, but limited selection of TV channels. The owner agreed to upgrade the Direct TV package and bill us for the difference.
He also responded promptly when we had a problem with the lights in the kitchen area.
The large desk in the den/second bedroom was really nice for working on the computer.
We did have problems with our cell phone reception, so often used the landline for local calls. (not sure if it's a carrier issue or the location in general)
We met several neighbors who were very friendly.
The clubhouse & pool are a short walk away. The pool was comfortable and the hot tub was actually hot enough to enjoy. We needed a key to get into and out of the pool area, which was a bit of an irritant, given it's a gated community.
The views of both Dinosaur Mtn and Superstition Mtn are marvelous, especially at sunset.
The golf courses in the area are excellent and there are a number of hiking trails near by as well. There are several restaurants in the area but the only one to offer a "finer dining" experience is at Gold Canyon Resort. We usually drove into Mesa for a better meal, about 20 minutes away. There are a few options in Apache Junction, and I definitely recommend the Arizona Opry. The Renaissance Festival grounds are a couple miles to the East, if you like that sort of entertainment.
Overall, I would say this townhome is a fine choice for golfers and hikers.
We found this rental excellent for our needs, and the furnishings were high quality. It was our first time visiting Gold Canyon, and the location was just a quick drive from everything The Valley of the Sun offers.
Just "hanging out" and hiking in the Gold Canyon area was what we preferred to do. This property is conveniently located to many desired hiking trails in the Superstition Mountains.
