Awesome House in Arrowhead Lakes
Review Submitted: October 15, 2008
Date of Stay: October 2008
A group of seven of us descended upon the house on a Friday afternoon in October to watch some baseball, grill some meat, go rafting, and drink some beer.
The downstairs layout was quite good, with a living room off to the right with a gas-fired firestove (on a thermostat), and a dining area (which we didn't use). To the left, over a landing for the stairs to the second floor, is the game room, featuring a Multi-Game Arcade machine (Donkey Kong, Galaga, all cool 1980s games), a Golden Tee, a bar/casino table, an air hockey table, and a 37" HDTV mounted to the wall. Seating in this area is limited to bar stools, which works well, since you can jump in & out of your seat for your turn at a game. There is also a powder room and laundry area on that side of the first floor.
Kitchen layout was good, utensils were well-stocked, and there is a nice sized deck off the back with a table for 8, and a good-sized grill. We grilled two of the nights we were there and the heat was nice & even.
Upstairs, there was a full bathroom in the hallway, serving 3 bedrooms. Two bedrooms had full beds, and the third bedroom had bunk beds, a single twin bed, and a convertible futon. There was also the master suite with walk-in closet/crib area. The master room had a full/queen mattress sleigh bed, a TV on the dresser, and a single-vanity full bath. We didn't expect so many of the sleeping spaces to be concentrated in the one bedroom since we were 7 men in our late 30s. But for families with children & their friends, I'm sure it works out quite well.
Check-in at Arrowhead went well, but BE SURE to bring a valid copy of your registration. My only beef with renting in this community is that you have to commit to which vehicle(s) you are bringing pretty far in advance.
Once we got our gate cards we followed the directions and got the house quickly. That's no small feat in such a winding place.
Summary:
Great place, lots of room, well-maintained, convenient to everything.
Cons (not really a big deal, sometimes kind of fun):
One TV is not HD, and there is a slight delay in the signal.
So, if you're watching TV in the living room, you'll hear cheering from the game room before the play even happens.
Suggestions:
Converting the second TV to an HDTV would be nice.
