We have always loved Nigara-on-the-Lake as we both grew up in this area and our family lives near by.
We wanted to find a heritage home in the historical district and had been looking for some time when we came across this charmer. We knew the minute we walked through the front door that we would be putting an offer on it!
Avalon was built in the late 1820's. We have the documentation showing the first sale of the property back in 1820 when it was first traded as land only for 600 GBP($1000 CAD). In those days the currency used was the GBP.
The house was in excellent shape. All we needed to do was a bit of decorating and we added the swimming pool and enhanced the landscaping. Before we purchased it in 2006, it was a successful B&B and the previous owner took great care of it.
We try to stay there ourselves when it is not being enjoyed by guests. We love the fact that the house is a half a block to Queen St and the car is never necessary except for arriving and leaving the town.
We stayed at Avalon with our grown kids and their 2 children in January for a
long weekend. The home is a gorgeous heritage home with wooden beams
We loved the over sized country kitchen! Great for gathering around and
We want to return in the summer when the pool is open.
The home is located one block from Queen street which added to our stay as
we could walk to everything and never take the car out.
We didn't want to leave!
We celebrated several b'days (including my milestone : ) plus Easter with our 2 adult children and their partners. Avalon quickly felt like a second home as we prepared brunch, opened presents, did our traditional Easter egg hunt then enjoyed Easter dinner after our Winery tour. Each room had it's own unique character with antique furniture and touches, beautiful quilts and quality linen, wood planked floors and several fireplaces. It is located less than a block away from Main St. yet in a lovely residential area that is great to stroll around (especially at night!) Extremely well equipped kitchen with amazing appliances and layout for great family meals. Can chose from 6 person eat-in table in kitchen or cozy dining room. Bright sunny rooms with lots of storage, nooks and crannies. We can't wait to come back in the fall!! My kids want to come back when it's pools season! Kerri was very responsive and easy to deal with during rental details. We would definitely recommend Avalon to any group visiting NOTL....
Stayed at Avalon with 2 families for 3 new Year Nights and that was a wonderful stay! Very comfortable and beautiful inside, feels home in every room, plenty of space. Extremely well maintained and well equipped and prepared. Clean and spacious. The location is great, steps away from main street, and I would recommend Avalon for anyone. Angelo and Kerri were super nice.
If I plan to visit NOTL I know the location to stay at - Avalon!
Avalon was the site of the 2014 reunion for our group of seven life-long friends. The house offered a wonderful combination of historic charm and modern comforts, and the location near downtown was ideal. We spent many hours in the cozy living room or spacious dining area and found a sunny corner on the patio, even in late October! The house was well-equipped and all-prepared when we arrived, and the owners were very responsive to any feedback we provided. We would definitely recommend Avalon to NOTL visitors and hope to return ourselves!
What a wonderful holiday! Angelo and Kerri always had time for our questions. Right from when we booked holiday and even after when we got home. They were helpful in finding which house would fit our needs and were always readily available. The photos of the house were very accurate, we got a very good impression of what the house was like. It was well equipped for a week long stay. This house is awesome as you can walk to most of the attractions and restaurants. You would not have to use your car unless you are travelling out of the area as this is an incredible place for a holiday. There is so much to do for any age. It was a perfect fit for us as we had a 10 year old son and his 89 year old grandmother staying with us. The orginal charm of a house from the 1800's was there to enjoy even tho all the modern aneminities were available. I would highly recommend Angelo and Kerri's property to anyone. We would not hesitate to book with Angelo and Kerri again.
Niagara-on-the-Lake is gorgeous, and our stay at Avalon was perfect! There was plenty of room for the six of us to each have our own bed - the kitchen was large and well equipped - the pool was warm, and the location couldn't have been better - walking distance to shops, restaurants, theatre etc. We all had a lovely time, and are planning to make this an annual trip. Thank you Angelo!
Thank you for allowing us to use your beautiful NOTL home for our vacation. We were in Western New York for our daughter’s wedding, and we then spent a week in NOTL with the entire family, to include our new son-in-law. Avalon is lovely, perfectly decorated, and close to everything! We ate at several wonderful restaurants (loved the Irish Harp and Olde Angel Inn Pubs), browsed the quaint shops, took a horse and carriage ride, and took quiet walks along Lake Ontario. And, I can’t leave out all the fun we had with our grandson in the swimming pool! The only time we used our car while vacationing in NOTL was the one day we visited the new NOTL outlet mall that is a short 20 minute drive. Thank you Angelo for letting us rent your beautiful home for our vacation!
