Guest Book Entry, Virgina Mc / NYC:
We loved this place. It's close enough to the city and a short car ride to town, but is situateed in a perfectly quiet, green area that makes it feel private and peaceful. There's a nice view of the Catskills from the screened- in porch, and some great swimming holes and hiking trails nearby. The house itself has a lovely vibe -- very clean, comfortable and well appointed but not fussy. My kids loved the little playhouse and swing set in the yard.
Guest Book Entry / Henry / NYC:
Gretchen and I have had the pleasure of staying at Paul and Kristine's mountain hide-away twice now. The first time we went there was in March with snow on the ground and the air still crisp. From the front of the house we could see one of the Catskill's surprisingly majestic mountains. The evergreens surrounding the house were supporting the most recent snowfall on their limbs. Inside, how ever,
were Gretchen and I, so snug and cozy, sipping wine in front of the wood burning stove feeling perfectly content after visiting the art
galleries in Woodstock. Winter at the house had been so pleasant it took no time to decide to return again this summer when the opportunity presented itself. Eating our breakfasts on the screened porch we'd plan our hike for the day. The house being right on the edge of the
Catskill Forest Preserve we never had to far to drive no matter where we decided to go. Ahh... the joys of summer... the local swimming hole just down the lane .....
Guest Book Entry / Katie / Philadelphia PA:
The house is a mile from the trailhead of the most beautiful hiking spot I have ever seen. You walk along the banks of a stream that has carved into the stone riverbanks for centuries, leaving beautiful sculpted forms that catch the water and the light. It was peaceful and amazingly beautiful. You can hike up a gradual trail past a series of waterfalls, or, if you drive further up the mountain you can look out over the treetops and down the valley towards the hudson. I sat, legs dangling off a mossy rock shelf, looking down on the waterfalls, and could have stayed there for days. I felt months of stress disappearing almost instantly. The house itself is cozy, clean, quiet, and very well laid-out for 5 people to stay very comfortably together.
