The Cottage:
Built with an open design, the cottage has great views of the river from almost every location in the cottage. A king size bed with premium linens are an added luxury. Bringing additional guests or renting another cottage or RV site but still want a central place to meet? The gorgeous oak dining table expands to seat 10. Furthermore, with a Murphy bed, queen sized fold out sofa and twin sleeper chair, there is space for additional guests. The large outside porch and deck features an outside dining table, fire pit, and a stainless gas grill and, of course the spa. This adds another 600 square feet to the existing 1200 of the cottage. Large hibiscus and azaleas border the deck, giving you a sense of privacy.
The view is unbeatable. Across the river is the Ocala National Forest, the Ocklawaha River, and the Caravelle Management area, so you are looking at nature not development. You may even catch a glimpse of our blue heron visitor who keeps watch over our dock.
Boat dockage and Recreation:
Nine wet boat slips are available for rent by the night, week or month. Additionally, we have three new covered boat slips with electric lifts that are available to rent on a nightly, weekly, or monthly basis. Space fills quickly so make sure to reserve one early! Opportunities for recreation abound. The Ocala National Forest is across the river, as is the Ocklawaha River, a pristine environment that takes you back in time and also gives you your best chance to see an alligator. Take your boat out and explore, or rent or charter one of ours, it is an opportunity not to be missed. Silver Glen Springs and Salt Springs are located off Lake George and are a great day trip by boat. You can also take the oldest operating ferry in Florida across the river just south and into the town of Salt Springs.
Additional Recreation:
Heading south you'll come to Juniper Springs and Run, excellent for canoeing and kayaking, and Silver Glen Springs. Being in the Ocala National Forest, you'll have access to many trails including the Florida Trail which, when completed, will extend from the southern tip of Florida into the panhandle, eventually connecting to the Appalachian Trail. Hiking trails in the Welaka Forest just south of town provide an up close way to see nature and allow you access to a secret spring. Strong paddlers can access it by water. Of course, for many, fishing from the dock or their boat will provide all the entertainment they desire. And for others a dip in the pool followed by a beautiful sunset will be their respite.
