We stayed at The El Dorado Ranch for my 50th birthday. We rented the whole property and it was a blast. My nieces, nephews and my 3 children (in their early 20's)stayed in the quest house which they loved. They were able to use the game room until late into the night and not disturb us. The main house was just perfect for all of us to be together! The creek, trails and views were better than any of us had expected. Roger (the caretaker) was an extra added bonus. He made bonfires for us and provided endless laughs. Try his fresh eggs for breakfast. They're delicious. With everthing there is to do at the ranch you never have to leave to find entertainment. This place is an absolute must for all ages!! We're already planning our next trip.

A wonderful getaway for the whole family

Review Submitted: September 30, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I am so happy we cancelled our trip to hectic Southern California and opted for a relaxing yet exciting vacation in Mountain Ranch. The house and the property are well kept, clean and beautiful. It was just myself, husband and 7 year old son with a mission of getting away from it all. We relaxed, but we were not bored at all. We enjoyed hiking, seeing all sorts of animals, visiting the caves and wine tasting. One of my favorite things was visitng the local farmer who, on an honor system, left fresh vegetables out for us to purchase on a daily basis. I came home with 30 lbs of the best tomatos and made sauce to last through the year.

I guess my all time favorite thing was spending time with our new friend Roger. He is truly a unique, funny and awesome individual. We spent many evenings with him talking, laughing and playing in the fun barn game room. I too am southern and I appreciate the time we spent. I have a new love of country music and really missed him when I came home.

My son also wants chickens for his birthday and would rather go back there to be in nature than Disneyland. Needless to say, that made me proud. We will definantly be back in the spring.

Thanks for one of the most special trips our family has ever had.

My husband, baby son, and I all had a great time
staying at the El Dorado Ranch over the summer.
We wanted to escape the cool San Francisco fog and
that we did! The weather at the ranch was real
summer weather, hot and steamy. We took walks in
the wilderness, cooked supper on the grill, and
enjoyed hanging out with our friends in a place
large enough to accomodate all of us. The whole
house was very clean, especially the kitchen which
had all new appliances, cookware and a state-of-
the-art coffee maker (we love our Peet's)! When it
got too hot outside we took a quick ride to the
caves nearby for a nice cool tour. We would
definitely go back. It'll be even more fun to explore
the woods and stream on the ranch with our son...

El Dorado Ranch was amazing. My wife, two children and I had a wonderful time in August. To be in the middle of a four hundred acre ranch, with no other people within earshot was both relaxing and rejuvenating. My wife loved the fact that we were in the country, but we had all of the luxuries of being in the City. The pool, big screen TV, satellite computer access, and comfortable accommodations were just what we needed to escape our high pressure jobs at home. My daughter loved to explore. We saw tons of wildlife hiking and four wheeling on the property. There were deer and buzzards, my wife saw a wild turkey, and we all saw some big birds that were either hawks or eagles. At night it was pitch black, there is nothing to see but a beautiful sky filled with stars, and nothing to hear but their twinkles. It was enchanting. The only downside for some might be how remote it was. If you are looking for a mall, lots of crowds, and shopping, this might not be for you. We did find a great little convenience store close by where the coffee and sandwiches were very good, and the clerks and other customers made us feel like we were part of their community. Ask the property manager the name if you go, I forgot it, but it was about a ten minute drive from the property. Next time I might bring up a fishing pole. The property has a damned up stream running through it; I want to try my hand at some fishing. It looks like ATV’s, Snowmobiles, and such would be a lot of fun. It was great to get the chance to use our Jeep off road on the well maintained dirt roads. A car would also be fine there, since the main thoroughfares on the huge property are paved. It seemed like the furniture and appliances were all new, and top of the line. Grilling on the big stainless steel gas grill out on the deck was the way we prepared most of our meals, but the stoves and oven worked well too. We may go back and see what it is like during ski season. We are looking forward to coming back some time when the snow is in the mountains this winter.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the El Dorado Ranch, and I must say it was pure heaven! The surroundings and accomodations were both spectacular. I expected to find a beautiful wilderness and I wasn't disappointed. However, the accomodations have all of the luxuries of home, including a flat screen satellite plasma monitor, brand new kitchen, and our own swimming pool. The kids had plenty to do as well. The local small towns are always holding car shows, art festivals, wine tasting, antique merchants, and on and on. The local restaurants were very good, and the nearby lakes are a wonderful attraction. I could go on. Suffice it to say that I highly recommend the El Dorado Ranch to all of my friends and family!
