El Dorado Ranch was amazing. My wife, two children and I had a wonderful time in August. To be in the middle of a four hundred acre ranch, with no other people within earshot was both relaxing and rejuvenating. My wife loved the fact that we were in the country, but we had all of the luxuries of being in the City. The pool, big screen TV, satellite computer access, and comfortable accommodations were just what we needed to escape our high pressure jobs at home. My daughter loved to explore. We saw tons of wildlife hiking and four wheeling on the property. There were deer and buzzards, my wife saw a wild turkey, and we all saw some big birds that were either hawks or eagles. At night it was pitch black, there is nothing to see but a beautiful sky filled with stars, and nothing to hear but their twinkles. It was enchanting. The only downside for some might be how remote it was. If you are looking for a mall, lots of crowds, and shopping, this might not be for you. We did find a great little convenience store close by where the coffee and sandwiches were very good, and the clerks and other customers made us feel like we were part of their community. Ask the property manager the name if you go, I forgot it, but it was about a ten minute drive from the property. Next time I might bring up a fishing pole. The property has a damned up stream running through it; I want to try my hand at some fishing. It looks like ATV’s, Snowmobiles, and such would be a lot of fun. It was great to get the chance to use our Jeep off road on the well maintained dirt roads. A car would also be fine there, since the main thoroughfares on the huge property are paved. It seemed like the furniture and appliances were all new, and top of the line. Grilling on the big stainless steel gas grill out on the deck was the way we prepared most of our meals, but the stoves and oven worked well too. We may go back and see what it is like during ski season. We are looking forward to coming back some time when the snow is in the mountains this winter.
