Enjoy the comfort and privacy of 'home' while enjoying the convenience of being 'in the city'. The house is 1/2 a block from the bus line into downtown Denver (a 10 min ride). All the attractions of this city are close by; the Zoo, Museum of Nature & Science, Denver Botanic Gardens, IMAX, Denver Art Museum, The Mint, The Convention Center, Center for the Performing Arts, Fine Dining, Cherry Creek Shopping, neighborhood restaurants and shops.

2 large grocery stores, Safeway & Whole Foods, are within a mile of the home. Within 3 blocks of the home is a neighborhood cafe/ coffee shop, restaurant/bar, wine bar, combo pharmacy/liquor/convenience store, pizza shop, gift/floral shop, Aveda hair salon/massage, ice cream shop, and yarn store.

Ideal for families: I provide and variety of toys, games and movies for children of all ages. Families traveling with young children will enjoy the convenience of the provided Pack & Play + linens, high chair & booster, an umbrella stroller and a safety gate for the stairs.

Best of all, when the kids need to burn off some energy, the neighborhood elementary school with it's new 'Learning Landscape' (playground) is 1/2 block away and is open to the neighborhood during non-school hours.

Close to hospitals:

National Jewish Hospital is a 5 block walk.

Bike rental: The closest Denver B-Cycle station is 1 mile from the home. Rent a bike by the hour, day or longer.

  • Additional guests (over 4) are charged at $20 per night, per guest or $100 per week, per guest.

    The home may be reserved with $100 deposit. This deposit converts to 1/3 of security deposit with full payment.

    Agreement to the Policy is required prior to accepting a reservation.

    The total rent + taxes plus $200 balance of security deposit is due 30 days prior to arrival.

    Rentals of 30 consecutive nights or more are not subject to sales tax.
    Monthly rates are discounted during the off season.

    30+ day cancellation notice required for return of reservation deposit.

    Payments are accepted through PayPal.

Perfect Getaway!

I rented this house for my mother, bridesmaids, and I to stay in while we were in Denver picking out dresses. It was the perfect choice!

Everything was so clean and well taken care of. The kitchen, though tiny, was incredibly well equiped, even down to the olive oil, which I had forgotten to bring!

We stayed for three nights, ate breakfast and prepared dinner at the house every night, and were able to relax and just hang out.

It was quiet, perfect for sleeping, the front and back yards were both so relaxing, and yet it is very close to everything (especially shopping at Cherry Creek!).
I would definitely reccomend this house to anyone looking to get away, and yet be close to everything, in Denver.

My family of 5 (including 3 children, 14, 11 & 9) had a wonderful time during the Christmas holiday at Velma's Guest House! Linda thought of everything - including some holiday decorating, which really made it feel more like home - and we loved the house from the moment we walked in. My sister lives in Aurora and the house was at a perfect location for us - easy drive to my sister's, close to neighborhood restaurants and quick access to main streets, while still being in a neighborhood. Being the warm-weather people we are (we are from Houston), we did not get to walk around the neighborhood as much as we would have liked :) - but we look forward to coming back during warmer weather and doing that! We were priviledged to meet Linda when we arrived and we couldn't have asked for a warmer welcome. We all highly recommend Velma's Guest House!!

Another great stay

This is our second time staying in this wonderful home. We have family in the Denver area but know that staying with them (on a coach, on the floor, on a pull out) makes for cranky parents and tired children. The home is very comfortable. The neighborhood is charming. We even hung out with one of the neighbors after his 2 year old wandered up on the porch while we enjoying a glass of wine on the porch swing. The boys (10 and 11) enjoyed walking to the local establishments (including The Daily Scoop for homemade ice cream) and we enjoyed the lovely back yard after they went to bed. There is no doubt that we will be back at Velma's the next time we are back in Denver.

We cannot thank you enough for the use of your lovely home during our recent vacation in Denver. The home itself was exceptional from the comfort of its furnishings to the convenience of its location. We were all very comfortable. Coming "home" at the end of a busy vacation day was something we anticipated all week. Hopefully, we followed all of your guidelines to return the house
to you in the excellent condition in which we found it.

One suggestion: We were doing online searching for things to do and couldn't print any of the tickets ... maybe including a printer and one cartridge with the rental fee would help those who don't know people in town and who need their tickets printed.

Anyway, thank you again very much for your contribution to our 2012 vacation in Denver!!
Owner's Response: Having a printer at the home is a nice idea...I will add that to the "wish list".

Charming little gem in downtown Denver

The house we rented was ideally situated for our needs. It was well stocked, comfortably furnished and real 'homey'. Linda was there when we arrived and remained available through our stay. We didn't want for anything and enjoyed our time there immensely. I'd heartedly recommend it for any family or families who need a home away from home in Denver for a few days at a time.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
