A comfortable apartment, located in a 'real' French neighborhood with local bistros, cheese and wine shops, green grocers. In just a few blocks you are in trendy Abbesses, with new designer boutiques and the 'in' crowd. The apartment has a modern kitchen and bathroom, fluffy towels and comfortable sheets and comforters. Master bedroom is in peaceful all-white color scheme, and the 'children's' room has 2 twin beds. A sleeper sofa can accommodate two. Roll-down shutters block out all light/sounds. You can listen to our eclectic CD collection, and consult the many Paris and France guidebooks. You can easily walk to the Sacre Coeur church, Montmartre Museum, and the Moulin Rouge. Four close-by metro stations (Abbesses, Lamarck-Caulaincourt, Blanche, Place Clichy) and two excellent bus stops are just steps away, making it possible to be at the Louvre within 10 minutes and the Champs Elysees in 15. Keys provided upon arrival by our charming bi-lingual property manager.

Damremont is a 'real' Parisian street, with bakeries, cheese shops, wine dealers and small restaurants (creperie, Italian, Moroccan, Indian) and a few French cafes. It is three blocks from the very trendy Abbesses area ( the 'Trois Moulins' café where most of the film Amelie was filmed). You can watch movies at three cinemas within a few blocks, as well as catch a metro (4 lines) or bus (2 lines) that traverse Paris just down the street with stops about every 10 minutes.

Notes: The apartment is located on the second floor (one flight up). There is an old-fashioned 'cage' elevator that functions quite well, but I do not believe a wheelchair would fit. The door does not open automatically, rather one must open the outside door, then the two sliding doors inside.

Obtaining the keys: Allyson, our charming and bi-lingual property manager, will greet you at the apartment upon your arrival to hand you the keys. She lives a few blocks away and will show you around the apartment and give you advice about the neighborhood and available transportation. You can contact her in case of emergency.

Repeat renters: In the last two years that we have been renting our home, we have had several repeat guests. A couple from Switzerland considers it their Paris home and have stayed with us three times already. A group of Irish ladies have stayed with us twice, as have an Australian couple. We have had only positive feedback from all our guests. Two have told me the pictures on the web did not do the apartment justice.

I wanted to tell you how much we enjoyed staying in your apartment. It was so lovely and I appreciated the charm and character of it, something we don't have much of back in the States. I am holding onto your website information for the next time I return to Paris. The neighborhood was wonderful, too!

This apartment is adorable, just like the photos. Overall, a great experience.

Good:
- Location in picturesque Montmartre, with a charming walk from the train station down cobblestone streets past lots of great cafes, wine stores, cheese shops, creperies, etc. Loved this neighborhood!
- Cute, spacious, well-decorated apartment. Master bed was comfortable, shower small but functional, loved the living room and grand piano
- Reasonably priced for the size and location
- Organized property contacts; they were helpful, had a full renter's contract and information for renters, responded quickly, etc.

Be prepared for:
- Very creaky floors (normal in an old apartment but just something to keep in mind)
- A bit of a walk from the Metro stations (maybe half a mile from Abbesses and Blanche). We didn't mind at all but I wouldn't recommend it if you have a hard time walking
- If you need to use US electronics, don't forget to bring converters
- We had a bit of trouble figuring out how to get into the apartment from downstairs--you have to hold the key up to this metal circle. Have the landlord person explain this in more detail; we obviously didn't pay close enough attention and it took a few tries to figure it out

The worst part about our Paris trip was that we couldn't fit in everything we wanted. If we come back, we will probably try to stay in this apartment again. I'd just like to live there, actually...

charming and spacious Paris apartment

My wife and I and our two teen-aged children loved this comfortable and very attractive Paris apartment which had all the amenities and was clearly not just a rental but someone's home. Well-equipped kitchen, good bathroom (with toilet in a separate little room altogether--very clever,that!), expansive living room and dining room and cozy bedrooms. Lots of good Paris guide books, cd's. Quiet street within walking distance of all sorts of good restaurants and terrific Paris food shops (bakeries, cheese shops, fruit and vegetables, etc.). Convenient to subway. Owner was a pleasure to deal with and had arranged for someone to meet us(exactly on time) and show us the apartment, give us the keys, provide a number to call should we need anything.

Better Than Home...Away From Home

With three generations of my family to cater for (my mother and my 2-year-old), I am very pleased to report that we all enjoyed the apartment and the area immensely. I would not hesitate to recommend it to any of my friends and family travelling to Paris. The metro lines are within an easy walk, as are good bus links, great cafes, bakeries, shops and restaurants. We felt very at home in the apartment and feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful place. It made for the best vacation we've all had in years.
The information given was very accurate and the property owner, as well as the property manager that lives in the building, were very prompt responding to all my additional questions before, after and during the rental. They went above and beyond to ensure that my trip went smoothly.

Marla, thank you for sharing your home with us, it truly felt like we were staying in a friend's home on our Paris vacation! The neighborhood was great, the corner grocer was very kind to us in light of our rather poor French, several Metro lines nearby, ATMs, restaurants, the Cimitiere Montmartre nearby, all of these things combined to make it a fabulous first visit to Paris. We're recommending your apt. to any of our friends who are considering Paris. Also, for those reading this, Marla is very easy to work with, excellent communication, on site property management met us there, all in all a very good experience, so don't hesitate to take the apt. if it fits your needs, you won't be sorry...
