Vashon Island is a secret jewel - a rural island, home to an active artists' community, an outdoor lover's paradise (biking, kayaking, fishing, beach walking, horseback riding, hiking, birding) - close to Seattle and a 2 hour drive to Mt. Rainier (great hiking), Port Townsend (artist haven) or 4 hour drive to the Olympic National Park. You can take a foot ferry into downtown Seattle for a day at Pike Street Market, museums or Seattle's world class library. The beaches tend to be rocky but full of many wonderful surprises and the swimming is for those who are hardy, but the sun on the water is beautiful any time of day and the sunrises and sunsets are pure magic.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Summer Rate (June-September): $1400 per week, plus taxes and cleaning fee, one week minimum
  • Mid season rate (October-May) $1100 per week, plus taxes and cleaning, one week minimum. Deposit of 50% due on booking, with remainder and $250 deposit due within 30 days prior to arrival. If reservation is canceled prior to 30 days before arrival, deposit fee will be retained. If cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to arrival, no refund will be given. Deposit will be returned 30 days after departure, subject to retention for damage or replacement. Lease agreement will be sent once reservation is made. Cleaning fee of $115 will be added to rental amounts, $125 for 4 or more people and $150 for six or more people
  • Deposit of 50% due on booking, with remainder and $250 deposit due within 30 days prior to arrival. If reservation is canceled prior to 30 days before arrival, deposit fee will be retained. Notes: Lovely new patio and hot tub with a view of the Puget Sound. The stairs to the beach are somewhat steep, but there is a railing on the stairs to the lower beach area where a gazebo and charcoal barbecue grill are available for outdoor meals. An additional 8 stairs to the beach do not have a railing. A private deck on the back of the house gives a panoramic view of the water, with Quartermaster Harbor to your right and the Puget Sound to your left. Shoes are required for beach walking as there are many stones and shells. Month long rentals are available - perfect retreat for those interested in writing, painting, or solitude. Digital cable, digital phone and wireless internet access are available. The house is on a two acre garden - full of unusual varieties of trees and bushes - secluded, private, quiet.

This lovely, serene home is on two and half acres. There are beautiful gardens, a large lawn that is perfect for games, croquet, football and an extraordinary number of unusual trees and varieties of bushes. The house faces west and gets beautiful sunsets many evenings. The house is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Vashon, 20 minutes from the ferry to Seattle and 15 minutes from the ferry to Tacoma. A new hot tub and large patio and deck share a panoramic view of Puget Sound. A short walk down to the beach provides a lawn, teahouse and access to the water. The property is very secluded and private, unlike many beach front properties and you will find it restful and relaxing.

The house is fabulous and the grounds were so beautiful with fall colors yet it was still warm enough outside to explore without a coat. We espcially liked the spacious open floor plan, no neighbors, big dining table, hot tub, wood burning stove, combing the beach and tooling around in the dinghy boat. In town we discovered a great little antique shop - Treasure Island owned by Marcie Ann - everyone in town was so friendly.

Lovely Island Retreat

This spacious home offered us a delightful time away from city congestion and traffic. The covered deck was a perfect place for outdoor relaxing with a beautiful view of the waterfront, even when it rained! The scenic location came with many photo opportunities. Our family enjoyed rowing around the bay, playing board games, using the hot tub and spending time together without feeling crowded. The protected bay is great for kayaking. Several visited daily from the Burton area across the water. Day trips around the island were so convenient that we made several and still came home with a half tank of gas in the car! We loved the lighthouse, just minutes from this home, with a view of tugboats, fishing boats and 14,000 foot Mt. Rainier (on a clear day). We also checked out the unique shops in town, where community spirit is alive and well.

Vacation on Vashon Island

My family has just returned from a week stay at this home on Vashon Island. There were six adults in our party and the home was spacious enough so that we weren't bumping into each other. It had all the necessities for preparing meals. The view was beautiful. And the hot tub was a bonus after a long day of sighseeing. The only draw back was having to coordinate with our schedule the ferry ride over to the main land and back. We would stay again if we planned to just relax at the home and wander the island.
