This jewel of an island is located a quick 20 minute ferry boat ride from Seattle but is a paradise getaway from the bustle of life. The house, with newly remodeled kitchen and and master bath, is comfortable but elegant, has a truly breathtaking panoramic view of the Puget Sound and a private deck where you can sit back and watch the sun rise or set. Follow the 50 stairs down to the beach where a gazebo is the perfect place for sunsets and bird watching. A two acre garden is filled with trees and plants that bloom most of the year.

This lovely, serene home is on two and half acres. There are beautiful gardens, a large lawn that is perfect for games, croquet, football and an extraordinary number of unusual trees and varieties of bushes. The house faces west and gets beautiful sunsets many evenings. The house is located approximately 15 minutes from downtown Vashon, 20 minutes from the ferry to Seattle and 15 minutes from the ferry to Tacoma.

A new hot tub and large patio and deck share a panoramic view of Puget Sound. A short walk down to the beach provides a lawn, teahouse and access to the water. Two Kayaks are available for rowing into Quartermaster Harbor as well as a small rowboat. The property is very secluded and private, unlike many beach front properties and you will find it restful and relaxing.

Vashon Island is a secret jewel - a rural island, home to an active artists' community, an outdoor lover's paradise (biking, kayaking, fishing, beach walking, horseback riding, hiking, birding) - close to Seattle and a 2 hour drive to Mt. Rainier (great hiking), Port Townsend (artist haven) or 4 hour drive to the Olympic National Park. You can take a foot ferry into downtown Seattle for a day at Pike Street Market, museums or Seattle's world class library. The beaches tend to be rocky but full of many wonderful surprises and the swimming is for those who are hardy, but the sun on the water is beautiful any time of day and the sunrises and sunsets are pure magic.

Notes

  • Peak Rate (June-September): $1600 wk & taxes & cleaning, and $100 person for more than 4 up to 7.
  • Mid season rate (October-May) $1200 per week for up to 4, $100 extra per week for up to 7. Nighly rates of $225 wkend/$175 mid-wk per night plus $25 per night for each person beyond 4 , plus 8.8% taxes and cleaning, three night minimum. Deposit of 50% due on booking, with remainder and $250 damage deposit due within 30 days prior to arrival. If reservation is canceled prior to 30 days before arrival, deposit fee will be retained. If cancellation is made less than 30 days prior to arrival, no refund will be given. Deposit will be returned 30 days after departure, subject to retention for damage or replacement. Lease agreement will be sent once reservation is made. Cleaning fee of $115 will be added to rental amounts, $125 for 4 or more people and $150 for six or more people. Holiday rates are $250 per night for 4 people, $25 per night fo additional people or $1600 for full week.

  • The master bathroom is located in the master bedroom and has a newly remodeled large shower with beautiful tile and a skylight. The two bedrooms in the basement share a bathroom. Attached to the basement bathroom is a full laundry room with a large washer and dryer. A powder room with a linen closet is on the main floor near the entry way.

  • The master bedroom has been newly remodeled and has a lovely, large tiled shower, walk-in closet and washer and dryer and looks out on a rose garden. The other two bedrooms are located in a walk out basement with a view of the water. There is a new pull out couch in the living room with a queen mattres. A second washer and dryer are located in a basement laundry room. All beds have down comforters and linens. Towels and beach towels are available. A blow-up queen mattress and linens are available for extra guests. There are two kayaks at the beach for use. A newly remodeled gourmet kitchen is well stocked with dishes and kitchen ware. The kitchen provides glorious views of the Puget Sound as you gather around an 8 foot granite island.

Notes: Lovely new patio and hot tub with a view of the Puget Sound. The stairs to the beach are somewhat steep, but there is a railing on the stairs to the lower beach area where a gazebo and charcoal barbecue grill are available for outdoor meals. An additional 8 stairs to the beach do not have a railing. Two kayaks available for use - lovely rowing in Quartermaster Harbor at dusk. A private deck on the back of the house gives a panoramic view of the water, with Quartermaster Harbor to your right and the Puget Sound to your left. Shoes are required for beach walking as there are many stones and shells. Month long rentals are available - perfect retreat for those interested in writing, painting, or solitude. Digital cable, digital phone and wireless internet access are available. The house is on a two acre garden - full of unusual varieties of trees and bushes - secluded, private, quiet.

So Many Pluses

Yes, even in winter, our family group found this place very inviting and comfortable; we'd like to return in any season! You couldn't find a rental with a kitchen so well stocked. We loved the paintings and art objects which added to the ambiance of the home. Having attractive and comfortable furnishings yet not being afraid to use them was great. The furniture and beds are really comfortable and there are inside rooms and outdoor areas where you could be off by yourself if you wish. The deck and patio have room and seating for large groups and the views are beautiful. It is such a peaceful and very private setting. Although there are neighbors, you cannot see them from the house. A great place!

This was our 3rd trip to V ashon and staying at this beautiful home - the view from the deck was awesome and the home has everything you could ask for including a fenced area for our family pet. The property is surrounded by trees and glorius gardens - I loved picking the strawberries and tomatoes for our meals and right across the street is a vegetable farm stand. Bar-b-quing every night with fresh fish and vegetables and a fabulous sunset. I love the privacy of the home and it includes Kayaks for enjoying the quiet waters of the bay. The location could not be better 20minutes from Seattle or Tacoma by Ferry. The weekly farmers markets, the Hardware Store Restaurant, the hiking trails, great lavender coffee all added to our enjoyment of this beautiful island - I will be planning my trip for next year at this wonderful home and island.

A Great Vacation Spot

Fantastic! We tried to rent a place for 2 nights on Vashon during the summer, when everything is a week minimum. When these folks had an opening, they went out of their way to make our 2 night stay work for them and us. Thankfully! Beautiful view, an eagle's nest next door, plenty of room to cook and entertain, fun on the water in the kayaks, and comfy beds made for a wonderful vacation. I would highly recommend this property to anyone wishing to enjoy their time on this fabulous island.

Our stay was wonderful. We did lots of cooking in the newly remodeled kitchen. It's a serious cook's
kitchen and is very well equipped. (The island has good food shopping, including fresh eggs and produce.) Our three generations had room to spread out for reading, card playing and movie/TV watching. We also spent hours at the beach skipping stones and finding shells. (We had planned to use the kayaks, but it turned out that the Vashon park district was having a free kayak day and we decided to try those.) The garden is magnificent, and my granddaughter and I had a wonderful time cutting flowers for vases. What a lovely visit for all of us.

Dream Home on Amazing Island

I want to personally thank the owner of this property for making it so easy to take a much needed rest and relaxation trip to the Seattle area.

This place was a little spendy for me, and a little bit more than my normal budget allows. BUT WELL WORTH IT. The home was located on Maury Island, attached by a small isthmus to the larger Vashon Island. It's a quick ferry ride from Western Seattle, but it's probably not the kind of place you want to rent for a rocking night out on the town. The home was gorgeous and well-kept, right on a pebbly beach that extended out into Quartermaster Harbor. I made a point to come "home" each night to watch the sunset. The owner's guide to the place even pointed out the best area for sunset watching. It's a mystical kind of thing.

The house was well appointed, with a newly re-done kitchen. I was almost afraid to use it - it was that nice. Upscale appliances. The rest of the place was nice but comfortable, in a way that made it easy to feel at ease while getting ready for a soak in the hot tub. I had a chance to stay during May, which included an Island Artist's Studio tour and the beginning of the agricultural produce season. If you have a chance to get here, don't miss it.
