This home used to belong to the British admiralty and according to its owner Drew used to be used as a customs house. It is divided into upper and lower apartments. We stayed in upper apartment ( my wife and I) with two friends. There were three bedrooms all with a view of the water and the castle across the street. The apartment was really wonderful...clean. modern and in a fabulous location near the ruins of the old cathedral and not too far from the town center although far enough away to be quiet. Parking was easy and the owner met us at our arrival and left wine and flowers. I can't say enough about how great our stay was here.
My father was the Caterpiller Dealer in Calcutta India and so I was born in that far off country. The bulk of my career has been as a Dealer Principal within the Motor Trade in Scotland from which I retired in 2010. We purchased the Upper flat in 2007 and the Garden flat in 2010 which gave us the whole of the property. With my background in customer service we try hard to satisfy the requirements of our guests and pay particular attention to the detail that will make their stay something special to remember.
My home town was Dundee and with an Aunt who lived in St Andrews I was introduced to the game of golf at an early age. I used to come over the water on a regular basis to play the great Links and have always regarded it as a unique venue with its own special character. When the opportunity arose then what better place to acquire a piece of history in this very historic town?!
Old Admiralty House is one of the relatively few privately owned properties that has uninterupted views of the sea. It is a short walk to both the golf courses and the centre of the town. However although close to the bustling centre with all the pubs, shops and restaurants it is a quiet haven being situated at the end of a cull-de-sac with no through traffic. You wake up to the sound of the sea and the call of the seabirds and couldn't be furthar away from all the pressure of modern life. It truly is a place you can recharge the batteries!
