Oakhurst was originally built in the 1930s with subsequent sympathetic extensions. It stands in its own grounds exceeding 1 acre and includes a hard, enclosed tennis court. There is a large patio with water feature and BBQ with outdoor lighting. There are numerous mature oaks and other trees at the front, with extensive lawns at the rear and a large area for parking. The kitchen has been completely rebuilt with a twin electric ovens and a gas hob; an American-style fridge/freezer and a drinks cooler. There is a breakfast bar and a separate dining table; washing machine and dryer. The bathrooms have been re-tiled and fitted with new power showers. There is an open fireplace in the lounge and a pool table, with separate dining and TV rooms. The Pilgrim pub and restaurant is 8 minutes walk away; the New Forest is less than half a mile away and the sea can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. There is an 18 hole golf course 2 miles down the road to Hythe.

Oakhurst is located about half a mile south of Marchwood on the road to Hythe. It is situated in the New Forest National Park. You can walk to Hythe, where there is a regular ferry service to Southampton, along a country lane and a public footpath via Hythe marina. Hythe and Marchwood have numerous shops, restaurants, pubs and local amenities. The New Forest has obvious attractions such as the ponies and the picturesque village of Beaulieu which is about 5 miles away. Southampton is a major city and port with several new shopping centres and a Division 1football team.

Perfect Weekend

We rented the house for a get together with friends before we moved overseas.
When we arrived at the property, we were awestruck. Far better than anything we had expected... the house is huge.. with every amenity needed....
We had a fantastic time, playing tennis, pool and generally just enjoying being in the house.
The whole experience, from the payment, to the house, to receiving the deposit back all ran so smoothly.
I can't recommend this house enough. The only bad experience was having to leave at the end of the weekend...
Treat yourselves and stay there!

The Perfect Family Getaway

For my Mum's 65th birthday our family stayed at Oakhurst for the weekend. And it couldn't have been better. The house is amazing, every need is catered for. The children loved the TV room. All the men loved the tennis and pool. And the ladies loved the huge comfy sofas for reading, chatting and the odd glass of wine. The patio was huge and easily accommodated us all. We moved between the kitchen and dining room for informal and formal eating. The beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and beautiful. The master bedroom suite is amazing. We had a Sunday walk on the nearby beach but otherwise stayed put because we had no reason to leave. Ocado delivered all our food on the Friday. And we left, very reluctantly, feeling amazingly relaxed after a really fun weekend which suited everyone from ages 2 to 65! Don't hesitate to book - this place is wonderful and we will definitely be going back!

Fantastic Weekend

I rented the property for a girls weekend and what a fantastic time we all had. There were 11 of us in total and the house is just amazing. From the moment you enter the double gates you know you are going to love it. The house is perfect for a large get together as the rooms especially the lounge and huge kitchen are perfect. We had amazing weather and sitting out on the patio with a glass of wine was heaven. The listing description was spot on and the house was well maintained. The owner was very good and helpful and always answered all my questions promptly. I would recomend this and I shall certainly be back. In fact all the girls want a reunion weekend next September.

We have just come back from a weekend at Oakhurst, celebrating my dads 70th birthday. It really helped to make the weekend special.

The indoor and outdoor space works really well with plenty of communal areas as well as spaces to disappear for some peace when required!! All enjoyed the pool/snooker table, the kitchen was a great sociable space and the tennis court was a real bonus! My only disappointment is that we were not there for longer!!

Would thoroughly recommend this property, particularly for a large family.

We have just had the most fantastic break here. The house is brilliant and is great if you want to spend a lot of time just hanging around. Downstairs there are a number of big, socialable rooms. Snooker table, comfortable sofas, log fire and TV room as well as a large and well-equiped kitchen. The conservatory was fantastic - had a lovely time realxing in the sunshine. Well equiped with bathrooms and showers, which is fantastic. And outdoors there is plenty of space for children to run around, large patio and a tennis court. And the location is great as well with very easy access into the New Forest. And a lovely pub in walking distance. What more could you want! Would highly recommend - will be back with my family.
