Glenwood Minnesota Lake guesthouse

My husband and I and four of our children spent a week at the La Quinta guest cabin on Lake Amelia and had a wonderful time! Not only was our stay most enjoyable, it was also very affordable.

The owners were very accommodating and helpful. From the time I started looking online for a place to vacation, until the day we checked out, I have nothing but good things to say about our experience. In fact, when I first found this particular lake cabin it was unavailable for our preferred dates. However, I sent an email with our request and Tom kept in touch with me and notified me immediately when the date opened up.

The cabin was so well stocked with everything we needed and suited our family of 6 very well. Not only that, when my brother and his family of 4 came up for a night we still had plenty of room for everyone.

My two youngest kids loved the closets full of games, toys, puzzles, and coloring books, as well as the beach toys and the swing set. We all loved the assortment of movies we could enjoy in the evenings and on the rainy days. The fire pit was fully stocked with wood and even marshmallow sticks. The common area with the extra seating and television were great for a little extra space, and I certainly enjoyed sitting the swinging chair in front of the window with my coffee and a book every morning. And how nice to have a fully furnished kitchen so that we could cook most of our own meals rather than eating out every day. I even found the little grocery store in Glenwood to have almost anything I needed and reasonably priced. Alexandria was just a short drive down the road for the few things we couldn't find there.

My husband and kids had great success fishing, both right off the dock and out in the lake from a boat. We were able to rent a pontoon from a place just down the road so that we could enjoy the entire lake, not only fishing, but also swimming in the middle of the lake off the pontoon. Lake Amelia is a gorgeous, clean lake!

I certainly can't neglect to mention Ferdinand (Freddy) the cat! I hope you're an animal lover if you stay here because Freddy is definitely a "people cat" (I kinda think he's maybe part dog ;) My kids sure loved him, and having a furry head to scratch made me miss my two dogs a little less.

This vacation was definitely one of the best my family has taken. We are already thinking about coming back next year (or maybe even again later this summer!)
