Watch the sun set over the island of Lanai from your Maui lanai (porch). Whales, waves, and palm trees are also part of your view.
House has open-beam ceilings, bamboo-wood floors throughout, unique décor and personal touches that give this house a charming and comfortable setting. Outdoor shower with private enclosure gives you an added option of enjoying the jungle surroundings, with a warm shower under a fragrant plumeria tree after a day at the beach.
The house has a master bedroom, plus a smaller bedroom/library. There is a large living room, with full kitchen and dining area. The lanai (porch) can be used for breakfast or dinner, with a double hammock for lounging about and watching the sunset.
The house is furnished with the highest quality items such as 100% cotton sheets, Italian dishes, and original art. The house is fully equipped with washer/dryer, barbeque, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and free internet access.
The area is a family neighborhood on a quiet street that receives little traffic. The property is a five minute walk from Kiawakapu Beach. At night you can often hear the ocean from the lanai.
The neighborhood itself is located in South Maui ("the sun coast"). In this area it rarely rains, and it is usually sunny with cool ocean breezes. From this part of the island you can see the islands Kaho'olawe, Lana'I, and Molokini. To the south is the Wailea Resort area, only one block from the house. Wailea is the most exclusive part of Maui with 4 golf courses and scores of shops and restaurants, including the luxurious Shops of Wailea. It is also home to many hotels, including the Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, and Kea Lani.
To the north is Kihei, with more moderately priced restaurants ranging from local Deli's, Thai food, Sushi, and healthy eateries, and shops including video stores, movie theatres, and late night bars. All of this is within a 5 minute drive from the house. Best of all, Grace House is only a 10 minute drive to fantastic snorkeling, diving, and the State Park at Makena Beach. The area is also a wonderful place for biking. Maui is called No Ka Oi, which means "Maui is the best". Of all the Hawaiian Islands, Maui is the favorite; and the Wailea area is the best of Maui.
My wife and I spent 16 days in September of this year....everything about the space was all we could have asked for. An abundance of room for two people as we never used the second bedroom. Kitchen was fully stocked and we did eat in a good many times. As clean and tidy as you could ask for. Also very quite.
The location is great! You are about one block over and two blocks down from the beach. A very easy walk. Also, the Blvd. that fronts the beach for miles is Kehei and you can walk to many restaurants, liquor store, natural food mkt., and even supermarket if you're up to the hike.
Christine was very cordial and had an answers for all of our questions. It is a very easy half hour drive from the airport.
Would we stay here again? You bet!
My husband and I, our infant son and my adult cousin had the pleasure of spending nine days in this cottage. Aside from a small mishap upon our arrival (which was promptly resolved by the owner), we were very pleased and perfectly at home here.
We spent most of our time on the large, very private lanai, listening to the singing birds, watching whales breech (yes, you really can see them!) and enjoying the incredible sunsets.
The location was great. Just off the main hwy and a short walk or drive to Kam 3 beach with many other beaches, grocery stores, shopping close by. Just north of Wailea and on the south end of Kihei town. We found the house very well equipped and made use of the beach chairs, toys, cooler, snorkel gear, etc. With a little one, we appreciated having a washer and dryer. The outdoor shower was great for rinsing off after the beach and although it is shared with the other cottage on the property, we never had any problems being able to use it.
The twin day bed in the second room is a little short and wouldn't work well for a tall person. The queen bed in the first room was fine for two. There was also a roll up mat that could be used for a small child. There were ceiling fans in each room which kept the cottage very comfortable. We never touched the A/C. The kitchen was well equipped. Had a blender, toaster, coffee maker and plenty of dishes, glasses, etc. We also made use of the charcoal grill.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would stay again in a heartbeat! While it certainly wasn't fancy, it was more than sufficient. If you are looking for an affordable, private, quiet location that's close to everything, this is a wonderful place to be.
This is a very nice property. Two bedrooms, one is rather small - the couch is fine for a child / medium-height adult, but will be problematic for a tall person. Another bedroom is perfect for two full-sized adults. Living room and dining space are more than enough for a family of 3. The kitchen is fully equipped.
All rooms have ceiling fans, which was an adequate cooling for us. The living room also has an air conditioner, which we did not actually use because the weather was simply perfect.
The view is simply amazing. The property has a nice porch, which can easily replace the living room considering the weather. It did for us, that is where we were having our breakfast and dinner. Also has a nice set of lifting weights (my husband really appreciated that).
The beach is 2 minute drive, or 15 minutes walk away. The 'highway' is 1 minute away. Great location.
I will definitely try to rent the same house next time I visit Maui.
My wife and I came to Maui to celebrate our 5th anniversary. The house is perfectly located, an easy 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive to two beautiful beaches and lots of restaurants. The kitchen was nice and the porch was wonderful to watch sunsets from and relax. When my wife and I had some minor concerns about the house during our stay, they were addressed immediately by the owner and her management staff. Would definitely return to this house.
We spent a month in this comfortable little cottage, just a ten minute walk from Keawakapu Beach. It is located on a quiet street, with a partial distant view of the ocean. We loved being awakened by all the different birds in the mornings, and sunsets on the large lanai were beautiful! Although the cottage has air conditioning, the ceiling fans and ocean breezes made the a/c unnecessary. The lack of TV service was not a problem for us, as we watch very little TV. The lovely bamboo floors and large Chinese rug in the living room were quite a surprise, and encouraged us to care for the cottage as we do our own home. We felt the owner was accurate in her description, and cleaning / maintenance adequate.
The small bed in the second bedroom was marginal, however (more like a futon), so I would not recommend the cottage be used for more than two people.
On the positive side: the location is excellent. The house is .7 miles to Kamaole Beach 3 (swimming, snorkeling, sunset watching). The deck is phenomenal - very private, with an unobstructed ocean view. The setting is quiet (only noise is a nightly spiritual service next door, at sundown, in which they seem to sing to the sun, 7:30 -9 pm in the summer). There are lots of tasty (and affordable) restaurants nearby in South Kihei, and it's only a short drive to Wailea's beaches. The layout of the home is spacious and was comfortable for our family of three. On the negative side: the beds and pillows are horrible. All of us had sore necks, or backs, or joints. We stayed four nights and the discomfort was cumulative. Honestly, if our stay had been any longer, we would have purchased air mattresses at Costco. The house gets hot and stuffy each day when locked up, and takes several hours to cool each evening. The A/C does not appear to work. Our son's bed was not made up for him in advance, although they knew three of us were coming. We searched and found one twin sheet in the closet; it was stained. There is a definite feeling of an absentee owner. Don't come expecting chocolates on your pillows , or little bottles of shampoo or lotion in the bathroom, or even kleenex boxes. Expect that some things (the hammock on the deck, the A/C, the wine bottle opener) will be broken and unprepared, and others (the screen door ) will be barely functional. You get what you pay for. And the price, for this location, can't be beat.
