10-minute ride on commuter rail straight shoot no stopping. 10-20 by subway - (depends where you go) 59th and Lexington is 10 minute 42nd st. Time square 20 minutes Short walk to mass transit. Where is home located? The home is located in Woodside, queens. Woodside, NY 11377 (Please be aware that on a map other neighborhoods like Astoria and Sunnyside look closer, but because there is no express service you can only take a local train into the city. So the reality is that time wise, Woodside is the better choice) the train is a short walk to 61st street. At 61st. you can take 2 options into the city. the first is the subway. it is 1 express stop plus two local stops then grand central station, and then 1 more stop then it's times square. 2 dollars about 10-20 minutes, runs 24 hours a day every five minutes The other option is the commuter train The Long Island Rail Road this is the luxurious train. it is 1 stop to Penn station...no stops 5 d

We travel around the world quite a bit but this was our first ever visit to New York and we had planned to stay to the centre like most people then while looking for hotels we came across this gem in woodside - great transport links 5 minute walk to woodside station for train or subway. 15 minutes from JFK by car and the airtrain goes from the station. if you want a true feeling of NYC, its people and suburbs this place is great. always felt safe anytime of day.

the property was exactly as described we all really enjoyed ourselves, its comfortable, large and roomy, clean well equipped and has plenty of information. the owners are real friendly provide you with all the information on the area that you need - great resturants etc and they are there if you need them but never pester you - i love that bit! it has character and we will definatly return, like a home from home Thanks Grace and Tony you made a great visit better - next time we'll take up that Bronx visit :)

What a fabulous time we had in NY, and Tony and Grace's place completely added to it. We took the subway in and out of Manhattan every day and night - sometimes at 2am - and never once felt the least bit unsafe. It's a nice walk to/from the station to the apartment, and then the subway is fantastic. Make sure to get the week pass ($25) and then just ride the subway all week. We would never do a hotel again if we could travel like this. We had two couples, and we each had our own space, but then the luxury of our own kitchen and living area.

The place was very nice, clean, and had everything we needed. The owner was great, and recommended different pubs and restaurants. I would definately, and already have, recommended this place to a friend.

Woodside is the perfect place to stay. So easy to get around using the Subway and buses. The apartment is fab, very clean, tidy and lots of room for us 5 adults. We felt very safe when walking about during the day or night. We used a few of the takeaways which were all very good. Being on our hols and very lazy we even had breakfast delivered from the bagel shop!!! They were just too go not to have.
We would highly recommend Grace and Tony's apartment and will be back to stay again.
Thanks again for making our holiday more than just ok.

Review of Woodside Residences

We stayed in Unit D and the Studio for six nights in June of 2008. Overall, I'd rate our experience as excellent. While the units are showing some wear (small amount of water damage to the floor in the kitchen, the walls could use some fresh paint, etc.) the general condition of them is good. I will say that the studio unit did not quite live up to our expectations. Even so, I wouldn't hesitate to rent it again. We were a group of 13 (4 adults and 9 children, ages 5 - 17). We had more than enough room to comfortably sleep and spread out to relax. The neighborhood was typical for New York, somewhat old and cramped, but we always felt safe. The walk to the subway station was a breeze and we passed by several groceries and restaurants along the way. It was great to be able to come back to such a spacious apartment after a long day in the city instead of cramming into a hotel room. Having the kitchen was ideal for such a large group and really helped keep our food expenses down. Super Mike routinely checked in to see if we needed anything and was kind enough to store our bags after checkout on our last day so we could spend a few more hours in the city before our departure. I will not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family traveling to NY. It's proximity to the subway and the city itself, it's amenities, and it's value make it the ideal alternative for families or large groups traveling to the big apple.
