Heaven at Dayspring

This is an absolute gem of a place to stay. Kathy and Chuck are great hosts and made sure your privacy and comfort are assured. Built along the famous China Ditch, the cabin is pristine and new and the view from the deck is unparalleled. On 36 acres of private property, we spent the most romantic and secluded weekend we've had in years! We did not hear one other sound of humans.... no planes, cars, voices....only birds, wind, water and the sounds of our delight at it all. The creek is just below and even at the low point of summer was 20 feet deep in some parts. We hiked, gold panned, picnicked on the rocks creek side and floated for hours in the swimming holes in the provided inflatable raft. We barbequed from the deck and spent each nigh cuddled together in the most comfortable king bed with 2 large picture windows looking out at the stars. The Milky Way was spectacular! Hot water was plentiful and we never missed not having a TV we were so busy soaking up the views! We didn't use the AC much but were glad to have the option. Near by Penn Valley offers groceries, a great bakery, thrift stores and historical activities The only drawbacks.....no microwave (understandably due to electrical issues in this remote local) and the ladder up to the bedroom is very steep. We wish we had been more prepared for the ride and walk into the cabin. The Franks are nice enough to provide a vehicle to get the half mile down the steep road but the steep walk the last 150 feet to the cabin was a little dicey at 11 pm at night. If it had been clearer on the Wed site, I would have packed differently. But honestly, the hike made it much more of a fun adventure and added to the privacy and specialness of the trip. We have traveled all over the world. Dayspring is definitely five star in our book for the remote local, delightful cabin, opportunity for strenuous exercise and relaxation and especially for its special spiritual essence! We will return.
