Overview

Freeport House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Den, 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Peaceful and secluded year-round oceanfront, post and beam home is located on the end of a private peninsula with large windows overlooking the water. The northern view looks across the water towards Wolf's Neck Woods State Park and the southern exposure features some of the many islands of Casco Bay.

Relax and watch beautiful sunrises and sunsets, shop the Freeport outlets, rent a canoe or kayak and explore Casco Bay, photograph wildlife, eat lobster, and enjoy a coastal Maine vacation. There are many things to see and do that are a short drive from the house. Treat yourself to a dinner cruise on Casco Bay, shop the Freeport outlets and L.L. Bean, or enjoy a performance at the Maine State Summer Music Theatre or a summer outdoor concert at L.L. Bean..

If you prefer a more relaxed vacation, you can spend many pleasurable hours observing wildlife on the Maine coast - ducks of all kinds, Canadian geese, ospreys, great blue herons, bald eagles, and harbor seals. Have fun climbing over rocky ledges and exploring tidal pools that contain tiny fish, crabs, and other sea creatures. Or, you can just relax in the sun and read a good book while enjoying the view.

the description of the home was accurate

  • 4 of 5

We rented the house for our daughter's graduation weekend and it suited that purpose very well. We cooked as necessary, hung out and relaxed, slept well, enjoyed the wonderful views, went for runs... It is not a luxurious home, but it is a comfortable place to escape to. Given the #s the house can potentially sleep, the fact that there is only one bathroom with a tub/shower is challenging, but it's workable.

Owner's Response: Thank you for choosing to stay at our property and for your kind remarks. We're glad you had a relaxing and comfortable experience. We have thought of adding a shower on the first floor, but due to the fact that we have a well instead of public water supply, and our proximity to the ocean we have decided to conserve our water source. I hope you'll consider staying at our property again should your travels bring you back to the Freeport area.

We'd return

Beautiful location, but for winter could need AWD for the private road depending on conditions. House was very comfortable, well stocked and very close to the Freeport shopping area. Hoping to return in a different season.

Wonderful Week!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in July 2013 was fantastic. The house was just as described and the photos are a good representation of the property. You know the saying "location, location, location!". Front of the house has a West view across the bay for sunsets and the back has East bay view for sunrises. It really is the last house on a quiet wooded point. We relaxed and enjoyed the birds, water, breezes and solitude of the house. Freeport village is 10 mins away so lots of shopping and easy access to groceries for meals. Kitchen is well stocked for cooking with pots, pans, big lobster pot, dishes, gas grill, coffee maker and a toaster that was a little slow at toasting. We used the broiler in the oven for faster toast. Renting kayaks or canoes is a must. Easy launching was available 50 feet from the house. We rented from Lincoln Kayak and Canoe in Freeport. They delivered, picked up and included all equipment ie; life vests, spray skirts, pump and handled it all over the phone. The owners were very helpful and left us fresh blueberries one day. We will be back to stay here again!!!

I HATED TO LEAVE!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with another couple enjoyed a week here. It was so peaceful it really felt like we left the rest of the world behind. It is just minutes away from stores, resturants, and tourist attractions. The house is equipped with everything you will need. We would return in a heartbeat!

Kayak heaven

  • 5 of 5

If you enjoy peace and quiet, nature, sunrises, sunsets and kayaking, you will love this great vacation home in Freeport Maine. You can watch the sun rise and set from the comfort of the deck chairs. It is close enough to town to enjoy the Bow Street Market, great food and LLBean activities but far enough away to feel private and peaceful. The house has everything you need for basic comfort and it is just steps from a great place to launch your kayak. So, if you want to experience a great vacation enjoying nature, this is the place to go!

Fantastic Location and Great Views

  • 5 of 5

I would recommend this property to anyone who's looking for a retreat while still wanting access to urban amenities. You feel like you're a million miles away from everything but if you wanted to go shopping in Freeport or Portland both are accessible. It was the perfect balance.

Owner's Response: Thank you! Yes, we are fortunate to have such a peaceful and secluded spot located about 10 minutes from downtown Freeport and 20 minutes to Portland. Hope you got to enjoy seeing the baby eider ducks swimming by the house during your stay.
