Nearest Motorway: U.S. 13 and 184 at 2 Miles

Going north on US 13, from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel and Virginia Beach, go left on 184 and go west for about 2 miles on 184 into town. Remember to follow the signs to Cape Charles. 184 turns into Randolph Avenue, which goes straight to the beach and by Smooth Sailing. Go down to 209 Randolph Avenue on right, two blocks from the beach. The two story home will have a sign on it that says Smooth Sailing. If coming down south on US 13, from Accomack County or Maryland, DEL, NY, NJ, etc. Go right on 184 and go west for about 2 miles on 184 into town. Remember to follow the signs to Cape Charles. 184 turns into Randolph Avenue, which goes straight to the beach and by Smooth Sailing. Go down to 209 Randolph Avenue on right, two blocks from the beach. The two story home will have a sign on it that says Smooth Sailing.

Beach relaxation or swiming, golfing, fishing, sailing, historic Eastern Shore site seeing, and great restaurants and seafood eateries, many of which are only one short block away in Cape Charles' Historic District. The Historic Palace Theater, which is one short block away, offers not only great local Eastern Shore performing arts talent on a regular basis.

Cape Charles is one of the few towns in America that allows you to drive golf carts most anywhere in the town. Thus, you can rent a bike or a golf cart and ride it around beautiful Cape Charles. Fishing boats are available to take you either into the Chesapeake Bay or the Atlantic Ocean. Or, just grab your own fishing poles and you can be fishing on the brand new peir that is only a 5 minute walk from Smooth Sailing. Also, the beautiful Virginia Beach Ocean Front resort are is only about a 50 minute drive away. A dream vacation you will always remember.

We spent Fourth of July week at Smooth Sailing, and it was so nice! Quiet, charming town, real "Americana." Cute, comfortable, clean, well-equiped home. Watched fireworks from the front yard. The beach is so nice and clean, and not crowded. The owners are very hospitable, too, and will answer all your questions.
The Irish pub around the corner is fine, and we really liked the Chesapeake seafood/jazz place. The food was really good, and the service was friendly, but slow. Just sit back and relax.
Be prepared for the $12 bridge toll coming from Norfolk. A small price to pay for such a nice place! We drove through Virginia Beach and didn't like it as much as Cape Charles.

Walk to everything

Although it is a small town, and no Walmart within miles, we could walk easily to everything. The beach and pier are very nice and not too crowded. The house was comfortable, but I would not recommend it for multile adults since 2 of the 3 bedrooms have twin beds only. We could not get satellite in the bedroom and no Starz on any tvs.

Thoroughly enjoyed the house, the town, the beach. House was well supplied with kitchen items including spices, beach towels and chairs. It was very comfortable and fit our purposes perfectly. Only minor problem we encountered was the oven was filthy and set off the smoke alarm when we tried to use it--I finally had to clean it myself which is not an activity I like, much less like to do on my vacation. However, that was minor and all else was wonderful. We'd rent it again in a heart beat!

A Great Vacation Home & Getaway!

We highly recommend this vacation rental. Lot's of extras. We really enjoyed sitting on the front porch and watching all of the pretty birds during the week. Each day we fished the change of tide from the pier until lunchtime then went to the beach for the rest of the day (both located 2 blocks away). In the evening we would often go back to the pier (which is lighted) and do some night fishing. The beach is very clean and great for familes. We tried out Kelly's Pub, located just around the corner, and enjoyed the fresh food. We especially loved the fried pickles. Our son also loved the chicken. The pharmacy is a great place for ice cream. All of the people and neighbors were very friendly too. We will vacation here again!

I recently had some plans that fell through for my boyfriend's birthday weekend. We just wanted to get away to a place that wasn't as rushed as DC. I saw place and was able to rent it the next day - AWESOME. We had a great time and everyone was friendly. Loved it. We are thinking about doing this more often.
