Most of all we pride ourselves on Villa di Stelle being a wonderful retreat for those seeking peace and tranquility.
We came on holiday to Abruzzo in 2011 from Cape Town, South Africa, and fell in love with the region, the people, and the simplicity of lifestyle. We transformed the Villa from an old ruin into breezy light and spacious accommodation.
We produce about 100 liters of virgin cold pressed olive oil a year from our single estate. We reside in our home which is about 90 meters from the villa, so are here to welcome guests personally, and to give you a complimentary starter food basket.
From then on, our involvement is just to assist you with any queries you might have.
Chris and Jo Verster purchased this villa in 2011
Light, spacious and tranquil. The views are magnificent (our guests have commented on how a photo cannot capture the incredible beauty of the surroundings) proximity to beaches (including a naturist beach), and plenty of historical sites make this a wonderful chilled out destination.
There are winter skiing resorts just a 40 minute drive away, including Roccaraso, the best resort Abruzzo has to offer with a great variety of runs.
Within an hour radius of the villa are castles, villages, caves, delicious and well priced restaurants. This is the home of Montepulciano wine!
For diversity and scenery, Villa Di Stelle never disappoints!
The villa is just 45 minutes from Pescara (Abruzzo) airport, where one can hire a car. There are Ryan air flights from London Stansted, Oslo, Dusseldorf and other cities- check your Ryan air schedules.
It's just 2 hours and 10 minutes from Stansted.
The alternative is a bus ride or car hire from Rome- around 3 hrs scenic drive.
This Villa is what people dream of when they'd love a REAL holiday. There is something for everyone in Abruzzo.
Although the position is rural, all local amenities including authentic Italian restaurants, bars, coffee shops and some seriously fashionable shops are just 5 minutes drive away..
Value for money here is excellent in the food and wine department, and the authentic delicious restaurants will have you wanting more!
The villa is situated between the mountains and the sea. It's just 40 minutes to the ski slopes, where there are instructors ,lifts, mountain restaurants. Great fun for all in the snow! All this is at reasonable rates compared to touristic resorts around Italy.
The Adriatic Sea is 25 minutes away, warm and calm.
Be it in the mountains or at the sea, there are always excellent restaurant choices for authentic Abruzzese cuisine.
From 5 minutes to 45 minutes drive, depending on what you're looking for, you will find medieval castles, to village hamlets, historical ruins . Lunching on a yacht can be organized,or deep sea fishing, the choices are huge.
We also offer the services (independently) of day trips to wine farms, cooking classes, or cave tours, if booked well in advance.
i brought my family to stay in the villa for 9 days and rented both the upstairs part for my mum in law and my daughter 14 and the downstairs for my wife and I and my son 9. Loads of room and everyone can find a bit of privacy. The house is very well kept neat and tidy with all the amenities you could hope to need. We liked it especially because it had a well tuned piano and we are a musical bunch. The pool area is spectacular as it looks out over the whole valley in front of you for miles presenting you with a wish list of small picturesque Italian rural towns and villages on distant hills to visit during your stay. There is no shortage of places to Eat and Jo and Chris will point out all the local restaurants and markets to stock up. They do provide a welcome parcel of food to get you started. The joy of the area is that it is very rural and non touristy which is perfect if that's what you crave with the extra bonus of not paying touristy prices at restaurants etc. a full meal cost us €10 a head at our local eatery, although there won't be a huge choice it's all very well cooked as you would expect
30 minutes from the mountains and 30 minutes from the sea....perfect if you aren't sure where you want to go when you wake up or you could just laze about and Barbeque by the pool. Renting a car is a must as you won't get around otherwise. flights to local airport 50 mins away Pescara by Ryanair only sadly, or a drive through the center of Italy from Rome which I imagine would be extremely picturesque ...driving around there generally is very beautiful.
Definitely recommended for peace and quiet and not for any form of crazy nightlife.
Travelling group: Extended Family
The villa was beyond our expectations with its amazing panoramic views from the roof terrace. Its far enough to feel you’re on your own, and have some privacy, but also close enough to shops and the local town. The top flat we stayed in was spotless, is really nicely decorated and has all you might need for your stay. The place is really peaceful and perfect to relax. Chris and Jo are very friendly and helpful, and have lots of tips for places to go, local restaurants etc. We thought it was so welcoming, beyond providing the cooking essentials like olive oil, salt and pepper, we were also stocked up with teas, coffee, bread, and tomatoes, eggs, and milk in the fridge on our arrival. We would definitely come back and recommend it to our family and friends.
I was thoroughly impressed by Villa di Stelle. Chris and Jo were delightful hosts. The villa was quiet, private and pristine. Set amongst picture perfect scenery I found it a superb place for some R & R and a highlight of my trip to Italy.
Villa di Stelle is the perfect destination for a week of relaxation, great local Italian food, and magical views of the Abruzzan countryside.
The immaculate villa is spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated and fitted, with everything we needed in our home away from home. We loved the spectacular views of the Majella mountains while swimming in our own pool.
We visited many of the nearby towns, which were charming and refreshingly un-toruistified. There's great gelato to be enjoyed at each one, and it's amazing to eat in restaurants filled with locals (and at local prices!). The nearby beaches are pretty great, too.
Thanks Jo and Chris for looking after us so well. We can't wait to be back soon.
What an amazing find, friends of mine decided to go to Abruzzo for two weeks to explore the outstanding beauty of this Italian region. After quite an extensive search I came upon Joanne and Chris Versters' five star accommodation the whole Villa has been restored to such a high class with such personal detail and taste as well as being spotless and perfectly maintained. The pool and outside facilities are just perfect and no photograph can do justice to the panoramic views this property offers. We took the whole villa as there were six of us.
Jo and Chris as hosts had the perfect balance. They were warm, welcoming and informative always available to help with any enquiries we had concerning the area, but on the other hand it was our villa for the 2 weeks and we had all the privacy we wanted.
Little local shops made it easy for buying wonderful fresh produce and the local restaurants and people in the area were just charming.
It was a great location for day trips and is about 3 hours drive to Rome.
I would highly recommend the Villa to anyone looking for a perfect Italian holiday (you feel like a local, not a tourist)
Looking forward to returning soon (hopefully)
I had the fabulous luck of finding this gem in the abruzzo area. I have been itching to go back ever since. Chris and joanne were lovely imformative hosts who have obviously taken great pride in the vila in it s decor, their friendliness comfort and cleanliness. even though this was all a 10,in addition, the actual location and views were unbeleivable . Chris was cleaning the pool daily, providing fabulous directions for sightseeing and a host extroadinaire. Jo was an unbeleivable cook, always offering tips and stories. The views of the mountains, the spotless pool and unbeleivable surroundings. Extreme relaxation was on cointinous offer, Chris and jo were always available when you needed them but one never felt that they were invading your space. I cant wait to go back and hope that this fabulous place will not be booked up!
The road less travelled. Quaint villages and towns dating to pre Roman times. Medieval and gothic castles , rivers, lakes, rafting, hiking, golf or shopping, everything is within easy reach of Villa Di Stelle. An abundance of summer time festivals.
The cuisine is truly authentic and delicious with most of the food being organically grown in this region. This is of course Montepulciano grape country, so many selections of fine wines and organic olive oil.
The selection of beaches(25 mins away) is yours for the choosing, several are 'blue flag', and there are excellent restaurants and the famous trabocchi that line the coast.
Winter skiing is in easy reach, there are 2 resorts to choose from, Passo Lanciano, or Roccaraso, which has a greater variety of runs.
A perfect and special place to be at one with nature in private and panoramic
Most of all a wonderful climate and a spectacular position.
