The 'Purple Parrot' is an absolute 'Coastal Living' style showplace, competed in May 2007.
The floorplan is perfect- 1 Master suite down, 1 Master suite up, and even has a third floor 'Crow's Nest' Game Room, with Air Hockey, Foos-ball and a billiards table for family fun. The Main floor is a 'Great Room' layout, and there is a second-floor 'Sitting Room' for reading or quieter pursuits. Truly a great layout.
This house is situated in a small, private Gulf-front neighborhood that has its own private Gulf of Mexico beach, plus a pool and tennis court. The house itself is just a few hundred yards from the beach walkover, and even comes with a matching purple golf-cart to whisk you and your things to the beach or pool with ease. The neighborhood is adjacent to the Isle Dauphine golf course (public welcome), and to the Audubon Bird Sanctuary.
This house has beautiful (but distant) views of the Gulf from the second and third floors, with a panoramic view from the third floor 'Crow's Nest' game room. . . . not to be missed!

Our family had a wonderful time! The house is lovely, roomy, well furnished and clean. This development is especially nice because the houses are widely spaced, giving occupants a nice feeling of privacy. The kitchen was well supplied - a great variety of good pots, baking dishes and skillets, plenty of plates and eating utensils. We greatly enjoyed sitting on the screened back porch with an early morning cup of coffee, overlooking the unspoiled dunes. Access to the beach was easy, on foot or in the cart. Four of us brought computers and the wireless internet connection worked well. We'd certainly be happy to rent the Purple Parrot again.
I stayed at this rental for a week recently. Here's the information you want that I did not have before I rented the place:
Pros: Big house, very clean, quiet development
Cons: Let's see where to begin. It took me an hour to get the key out of the lock box; the dishwasher was broke upon arrival; the couch was ripped and furniture generally very worn; the roof leaked when it rained (and it was the rainy season) into the living room; their were a lot of bugs due to poor weather stripping around the doors; the 2nd and 3rd floors were very hot even with the A/C on full; no water pressure hardly in the showers or bath on the second floor; a ceiling fan bland fell off while on and hit my 4 yr old in the head;
The development: run down; no pool heater so we could not get in the pool; the beach was littered with garbage -tires, big pipes, plastic, other trash.
In short, very disappointing and a waste of money. I would not rent this property again.
I've stayed on Fort Morgan before at beach houses so I know to expect some wear and tear but this development and house was pretty bad. I wanted to like it. It was clean for the most part-which not all beach houses are and big. I just think they have not put money into the place in a number of years and it shows and the development is a dump plain and simple.
