Our spacious, fully equipped waterfront beach house in Humacao welcomes you to the Caribbean with the accessibility and security of the U.S. territory of Puerto Rico. The house has A/C in all bedrooms and is located in a very quiet, semi-private 2-mile sandy beach, yet you will be 10 minutes to world class golf, casino, restaurants; 20 min. from Fajardo for day-sailing to other islands, or take a kayak trip to the Phosphorescent Bay.

About Jose & Lorraine Rojas

We've been married for over 20 years and have 4 lovely children. She is originally from Delaware, US, first generation Italian and Jose is a Puerto Rico native -and proud.

Jose & Lorraine Rojas purchased this house in 2005

Why Jose & Lorraine Rojas chose Humacao

We fell in love with the house and the are during the 3 years we lived in Puerto Rico as a family of six. Slghtly off the beaten path but 10 minutes from a major highway. The views are mesmerizing and you will feel stress fall off you in layers as you sit on the balcony listening to and watching the rhythm of the gentle waves.

But that takes me 30 minutes, otherwise -we both love to go on long jogs to the south and up a hill to a WWII-era gun position that overlooks the whole area or we love to kayak to Monkey Island.

What makes this house unique

Beach is your back yard. Few other people. Will feel like you have a private beach!

The water is calm, shallow, and warm. Great for kids.

Outstanding access from the highway and to any shops or grocery needs.

Family Friendly Fun

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here last Christmas. The family that rents the house is incredibly nice and helpful. The house is gorgeous and in December/January the beach is lovely. I especially loved sitting in the hammock watching our family look for starfish and sand dollars. I highly recommend this property.

Nice home on the beach in Punta Santiago, Humacao

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for a 5-star resort with pampering and room service, this is not for you. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing vacation with home on the beach and a taste of the local island culture than look no further. Located on the end of a quiet road this home is well equipped with everything you will need. If not, than a supermarket and gas station are within a 5 minute walk and a Walmart a 5 minute drive along with many food and shopping options. The neighbors are very friendly. Eva, across the street, has lived there for 50+ years and says everyone in the neighborhood are her family and crime is not an issue.

We had a small group of 6 and had a small wedding on the beach in front of the home. Room in home many more and is well equipped with kids toys for the beach. We strongly recommend doing a trip to Calebra. We went with East Island Excursions and went to Flamenco Beach (rated top 5 beach in world by Travel Channel). El Yunque is also close by.

Can't wait to come again!

Perfect house for our family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This beach house was a perfect fit for our family vacation. Our group included my husband, 9 yo daughter, 6 yo son, myself and my parents. The house is right on the beach. We are used to staying in older homes at the beach in Delaware and Maryland and this was a typical beach house. I don't think we'd enjoy a resort with just a room and lots of other people. We like to cook breakfast and lunch at the house. The kitchen was well-stocked and easy to use.

My kids are obsessed with catching lizards and frogs and the fenced-in yard was perfect to let them roam on their own to do some hunting.

The beach has probably seen better days. I think the town has stopped clearing the trash. But it didn't matter, we enjoyed every minute of it. The house is nicely supplied with chairs for the beach. We took the 2 person kayak out for a short trip past the waves. The water was warm and was filled with dozens of sand dollars. We even found a few starfish. It's a public beach so be ready for locals to drive and park right there on the beach to fish or swim. Everyone was friendly and polite, except for the person who stole our flip flops. It was our fault for leaving them unattended. We knew better.

This is not your typical "resort" setting. It is at the dead end of a street with a mixture of beautiful and not so beautiful homes. But that seemed like typical PR. I never felt unsafe. Any beach house has it's problems due to the harsh salty air, so it could use some updating. But it was clean and comfortable and you can't find a better location for the price. The HUGE wrap around porch was were we spent most of our waking hours at the house (when we weren't on the beach of course). There's also a horse that lives in the woods right next to the house.

The town had a Walmart and some fast food places as well as restaurants. We ate at Restaurant Tokyo and Kingdom Pizza. The Humacao Nature Reserve is just a few minutes down the road. Fajardo was only 30 minutes north, and there we did the Bio Bay kayak adventure and a snorkeling trip. The El Yunque rainforest is a little over an hour away. We had a lot of fun exploring the island. The best "adventure" was our trip to El Cerro de Nandy in San Lorenzo. You ride in the back of a 4x4 to get to the top of this mountain to eat a delicious plate of fried pork. Look it up on TripAdvisor. I highly recommend it.

If we ever have the opportunity to return to Puerto Rico (I hope so), without a doubt we will stay here!

Great accommodations for our family!

  • 5 of 5

The house was comfortable, the best part was having coffee on the front terrace watching the sun come up. We had four adults and five kids. Kids were on the beach and in the ocean every morning by 7, even a few night swims. Perfect location - grabbed groceries @ Walmart, the local cantinas had good food and the locals were kind. This area is not touristy, which fit us just fine. The house is located close enough to kayak to monkey island and worth the paddle(saw lots of monkey activity). It is a residential area so there were a few stray cats and an occasional dog bark (but how could that ruin your vacation). Truly a home away from home for us.

Relax, laugh loud & play hard

  • 4 of 5

If you are a family or group of friends looking to relax and just enjoy a home away from home than this is the place for you. Don't expect posh hotel accommodations or a neighborhood that ritzy. This is a beach house, some sand is going to follow you in, some ants are going to visit and the neighbors dogs are going to bark once and awhile. Deal with it. It was so nice to not feel like you could not laugh loud and play hard. Our family consisted of grandparents, 2 daughters, a son-in-law and 3 grand kids and everyone had a great time. The owners were very prompt in getting information to us and were very nice.

The Perfect Quiet Get Away

  • 5 of 5

April 2011

We just returned from a week at this wonderful property. It was EXACTLY as advertised, a beautiful, rustic jewel in the small fishing village of Punta Santiago. The wrap around/mostly covered deck is a wonderful place to spend a morning or evening, while the calm, sandy beach is a perfect place to spend the day.

If you like being surrounded by nature (birds, frogs and iguanas or even Monkeys if you kayak out to the island), as well as being close to local grocery stores and restaurants, then this is a perfect place for you. The owners were very helpful with everything from directions to recommendations of places to eat or tours to take, etc.

We used this property as a launch pad to sail and snorkel out of Fajardo, to hike the paths and swim in the pools below the waterfalls of El Yunque, to head out for night kayaking on the Bio-luminescent bay and generally explore the eastern tip of Puerto Rico.

This property is perfect for the type of people who want to be away from touristy hustle and bustle and who want to do their own thing. The owner's allow access to Sea Kayaks and a number of family friendly beach amenities (umbrella, cooler, beach chairs, toys for the kids).

The kitchen and charcoal grille on the patio were the perfect tools to feed our group of 7 (we could have easily accommodated another 3-5 people if we wanted to), while the whole house felt open and comfortable with a near constant sea breeze. The AC units chilled the bedrooms nicely for sleeping, though we were instead tempted to open all the windows to the sea breeze..

I would not hesitate to stay here again and our whole family is already asking for another trip back!
