This perfect location has it all! Ski to within 113 steps of your door, use the free private shuttle to get around town, enjoy the heated outdoor pool, relax in one of the 2 outdoor hot tubs, enjoy the warmth of the large new co-ed sauna, get a work out in the fitness center, take advantage of the one of the clubhouse lounges or game areas, shoot a game of pool, or utilize the business center. In the unit and throughout the location, you can cruise the internet via a secure ultra high speed wireless -our location has 50 megs/second to each unit! Its very fast internet and very capable of streaming video. In the condo, you'll be very comfy relaxing on the leather furniture set, especially with a warm fire surrounded by natural rock. The 47 Inch, Sharp Aquos Smart HDTV (more on this later) with DVR, Blu Ray with WiFi and Surround Sound Theater System is ideal for movies, sports, or watching your video from a day on the mountain. It has a smartphone/ipod earphone cable connection, so it is also great for playing your favorite music! After a long day out exploring our area or our slopes, the full kitchen, bar, & dining area is a great place to prepare a meal. Stainless Steel Appliances are featured, but the cabinets also hide a full assortment of dishes & glassware, as well as a nice selection of essentials like sugar, spices, oils, teas, and other basics. At the end of the day, you'll lay down in high quality linens & comforters selected for warmth & comfort - you'll be asleep in no time and wake up refreshed!

I have converted the HEATED garage into a Game Room. It has a 3 in 1 Pool / Air Hockey / Ping Pong table. There is also a Phoose Ball Table, a Dart board a 35 Inch wall mounted TV with cable, as well as sleds, river tubes, pool floats and a ski tuning table. This is a great bonus space for all to enjoy as well as a convenient heated space for storing your skis & boards.

When I lived in the property for a year, I loved how accessible the condominium is to skiing in the winter. I would laugh as I walked to the Gondola in about 2 minutes, while others in the complex waited for the free shuttle pick them up at their front door. The whole mountain village is within easy and fun walking distance. There is even a great Southwestern Restaurant called La Montana and a small grocery/liquor & wine store called The Wild Plum right next door to The Phoenix condos.

Of course, with small kids, the shuttle to the Gondola is a convenient amenity. Leave your car at home! The private shuttle in winter (as well as the city shuttle year round) will get you anywhere in town quickly and for free.

At the end of the ski day, or for lunch, you can ski to within 113 steps of the back door or garage. That's steps, not yards. Really! I counted many times and this was the average! Getting home is very convenient and easy! I still park at The Phoenix when I hit the slopes myself, one of the perks of ownership...

In the summer, the condominium stays pretty cool on its own, but as of 2011 the cool temperature is guaranteed by my brand new Air Conditioning units & new windows. There is a great flat area right out back with trees, grass, and a picnic table. I have a Gas and a Charcoal grill, so plan to BBQ. The hiking and mountain biking trails on the lower mountain are easy to access, and with the new heated Promenade wrapping around the base, you can easily walk, year round, to all of the shopping & dining options in the Mountain Village / Base Area!

I have tried hard to maintain the property at a high quality level, and constantly improve the property:

Fall 2014 - New HDTVs for the Bedrooms, New Towels, Upgraded Gas Grill

Fall 2013 - Added a Phoose Ball Table to the Game Room and new comforters to the bunk room.

Spring 2013 - Extensive Remodel: New Mattresses throughout! Granite slab counters in kitchen, including the back-splash & a waterfall panel to cap the peninsula, a new undermounted stainless steel sink & Moen faucet, new maple kitchen cabinets & drawers with soft close technology, new floors throughout the living room, dining room, kitchen & hallways, a new front loading washer & dryer, new paint, updated electrical switches, plugs, phone & ethernet outlets. We even built custom baseboard heaters that match the cabinets!

Fall 2012 - New Comforters, pillows, & linens for bedroom # 2. New full size ping pong table top for the game room.

Fall 2011 - Blu Ray with WiFi for streaming movies & video from the internet and a DVR for recording games, shows, & movies while you're out enjoying Steamboat.

Summer 2011 - 47' Internet Connected Sharp Aquos 1080p HDTV with matching HD Signal & Digital Channel lineup including HBO. Also, a Complete Exterior Building Renovation, including Air Conditioning, New Windows & Doors, Siding & Stairwells.

Summer 2011 - $4 Million Exterior Renovation at The Phoenix. The place is looking sharp! During the renovation, I added Air Conditioning to the unit.

Fall 2010 - New Bedding & Linens for both Bedrooms.

December 2009 - Garage converted into a Game Room. It is heated, carpeted, with a Pool/Air Hockey/Ping Pong Table, Darts, Ski Tuning Table, Cable TV, even Sleds for winter guests, River Tubes for Summer guests, a Christmas tree for holiday guests, and pool floats too.

Fall 2009 - Kitchen Bar Lighting replaced, and a dimmer switch was added. I also have new high end linens for the master bedroom.

Fall 2008 - New Leather Living Room furniture set.

Spring 2008 - The bathrooms were re-done with new larger mirrors, brushed nickel fixtures & lighting.

Fall 2007 - New Kitchen appliances, new carpet & slate tile, new tile in bathrooms. I also replaced all bedding, sheets, & towels with higher quality items than the average condo.

PRICING NOTE:

Renting from a management company is no fun. They can't & won't guarantee a particular unit, much less the quality of the unit, or the bedding setup. I'll match or beat their rates in most cases - giving you the BEST for LESS.

The Air Conditioning is also not common! The bed setup is also unique, with a Queen, a second Queen, and 3 Twins. Not the best..

The pictures does not accurately display this condo. There was old socks in the living room, old food in the refrigerator, dead bugs under the master bedroom bed.

The 2nd bedroom can squeeze more beds to accommodate your needs however be careful if sleeping on the top bunk bed, you will hit your head every time. The closet is used for storage of a rollaway bed leaving only dressers for your belongings. Definitely not enough storage space.

The dryer never dried the clothes. Forget trying to dry towels... we would dry 1 towel and after 3 hours the towel was very damp. We have to fan dry everything, which makes the clothes stiff and hard.

The condo has 2 window units that did not cool the condo. During the day it gets very hot. At night it cools down enough to rest but you'll definitely need to use the fan.

The owner responded to my call and email 2 days after I initially tried to contact him. Everything I talked to him about had another excuse as to why things were the way they were. He did try to get someone out there to look at the dryer and my understanding was the part was not available.

The game room has a useless broken shelf. Trash can was full and trash on the floor. This room was very unorganized and dirty. Our teenagers never stepped foot in the game room. Which was one of the main reasons we got this place.

I definitely overpaid for this condo and did not get the full benefit for what I paid. When asked for some sort of discount for the inconvenience he did not respond or reply.

Owner's Response: Veronica, I am sorry that you have posted this negative review. So, I must respond. The pictures do accurately represent the property. Yes there was a sock under one of the couches - my housekeepers do not move all furniture after every stay. Yes, there was food in the fridge - most guests like having condiments available. This is why you also found spices, oils, hot chocolate, tea, etc in the cabinets. Yes, the top bunk is pretty high, and you can not sit up when sleeping there, but there is plenty of room, and tons of head room in the lower Queen portion of the bed. The dryer situation was certainly very disappointing. Mainly it was disappointing to have replaced an old & working dryer with a newer Maytag only to have it fail 13 months into very light use. I did respond to your email immediately and have it serviced on the same day. One of the motors had to be replaced. Unfortunately, Steamboat is a small town and there were no motors here which could be installed immediately. The air conditioners do cool the home very adequately. In fact, each of the two units are rated to cool the entire 1000+ square feet by itself, yet there are two of them to ensure a symmetrical amount of cooling in each bedroom and throughout the condo. It is unfortunate that you had the heat on and turned up during your stay, because the baseboard heat and fireplace are not connected to the Air Conditioners, and they will work against each other when set in opposition. The game room does not have any shelves at all, much less a broken one. I've been renting this unit for over 7 years and have never had anyone demand money back the way that you did. The reservation was made at a significant discount, and then you asked for money back. I feel that when the dryer had its problem, you began looking behind and under furniture, trying to find things to complain about, to ask for money back. I did offer you a fair and appropriate compensation as a result of the dryer not working. I'm sorry that you didn't feel it was enough, and have resorted to writing a negative review instead. I hope that you will choose to stay an my property again, and I'd welcome you back, even inspect the unit myself prior to your arrival!

Wonderful, clean condo!

Grey was great to work with and made out stay wonderful! All the little touches made this a great choice. The condo was so close to the village and gondola to the mountain top. Our son loved the cool "log" bed although the top bunk was too close to the ceiling to sleep in. We made a couple of small repairs, we're handy like that, that made some things a bit easier. We would recommend this condo to a family, couple or friends. There were additional beds available for set up, but we didn't need them.

Because it was summer, there was so much to do in the Steamboat area. The pool, wifi, and game room were a real plus!

I hope to stay there again in 2014!

Great Place with lots of little touches

The property was clean! It even smelled clean & fresh when we walked in. It was cozy & warm, with a great location. The ski slope access is quite easy, so we came home from skiing for lunch a couple of the days. The facilities were good, the shuttle very easy & convenient to use, and the kids loved hanging out in the game room downstairs. The beds were comfy.

The owner had sleds for the back yard, floats for the pool, spices & oils for cooking, sandwich baggies for picnic lunches, nice touches that really helped. The bathrooms are not huge, but overall this condo was everything we wanted & then some. We'll be coming back to this property on our next trip to Steamboat.

There is a small Grocery / Deli / Liquor store called The Wild Plum right next to our condo's location. It is a restaurant too and there's another great one called La Montana right across the street. We also have The Snowbird Restaurant & Lounge right across the street, on the edge of the slopes. The heated Promenade that wraps around the ski area base makes any of the 15 or so restaurants/bars easy to walk to. In the summer, Burgess Creek flows right through this area, & is a popular place for kids to play, along with the 'kids adventure zone' activities in Gondola Square.
