Peaceful Escape on Cove

This rental was accurately described and pictured and the owner was extremely easy to work with -- she answered all of my questions quickly and completely and allowed my parents and their dog to visit us for a few days during the week. My 7-yr old daughter and I slept in the loft (I agree with Liz that it is not appropriate for small children -- no handrails on the steps/ladder) while my parents had the bedroom downstairs. The loft is open and airy with great ventilation from two open windows. The yard is huge and the view of the cove expansive. There are lots of birds in the area to watch and we even saw two seals in the cove while eating breakfast one morning. The accommodations are rustic and comfortable as well as clean. This is a peaceful retreat and very close to the areas that we like to visit (Tenant's Harbor, Port Clyde, Marshall Point Lighthouse). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this rental highly to anyone who wants to get away from it all and unplug from the stress of our daily working lives. My daughter and father loved swinging/resting on the hammock and the area is very quiet. This was one of the most relaxing, wonderful trips to Maine that I've ever experienced. Thank you, Liz, for offering this wonderful property to those of us who do not live in your area to enjoy.

When we read the (past) description of ants and ovens we were concerned; when we got there, we fell in love. This place is everything it advertised: quiet and secluded, and perfect for drinking tea on the porch, resting in the hammock, swimming, quiet conversations with my husband, giggling with my sister up in that loft, playing games with my family on the dining room table. And the outdoor shower! What a treat.

Staying there made me long to be an artist.

This summer we requested a shorter week due to some medical concerns -Liz was generous enough to agree. When we had to cancel the day we were supposed to arrive due to a medical emergency, she was incredibly generous in offering to hold our deposit for this fall.

Do stay here. Save a week for us, though...

FABULOUS

This cabin is wonderful. The cabin is off the beaten track- private and paradise. Very clean. The one review was wrong. They stove worked, thereare two working ovens, microwave, toaster oven - no ants (?). There is no cable- but who would want to watch TV when there's so much to do. The sleeping loft has a comfortable double bed and a single bed. The queen bed downstairs very comfortable and the furnishings comfortable.

Paradise for dogs, artists, and canoers!

I was lucky enough to stay here for 2 weeks. I thought that the cabin was very clean. We had no problems. The property was remote enough that I could let my dog run off-leash! My husband and I and the dog took the canoe out several times - it was lovely! The outdoor shower was awesome!! The kitchen had everything that we needed. The oven did not work but I had NO interest in baking. We loved not having TV - but did bring a few DVD's which played easily. I painted from the edge of the cove almost everyday - the dawn was amazing and the light was constantly changing. The cabin is close to Tenants Harbor and Port Clyde is only 12 minutes away. Rockland is about 20 minutes away. This is a great place to relax and get away from it all!

Be aware of rentals listings not as they all appear.....
The outside of this property is lovely, peaceful, quiet and nice yard - dog friendly. BUT the inside is not as nice, unfinished celing, second room is just a storage area containing everything from cleaning supplies, vacuums and pots and pans etc...messy. There is only one double bed and a futon in the loft that is quite scary especially if you had to get down from there at night. Oven does not work, stove top only half works. TV gets no reception so only good for DVD's. No shades on the windows or curtains and most of the trimmings look like flea market finds. Also had to battle with black ants during our stay inside the kitchen and bathroom. Don't come here expecting super clean eat off the floor atmosphere or all the comforts of home.....but if rustic is what you like you are all set. Also definately not a place to come if you don''t like to drive a lot.....the nearest real town is 20 minutes away. Its great for nature lovers and hikers - plenty of nice parks but not very dog friendly - leashs necessary when they are allowed.

At least once a week there is a gallery art opening. Strand theater and Bay Chamber concerts. Excellent restaurants. At Port Clyde you can take a ferry to Monhegan Island and to visit puffins when they are nesting. Many Vineyards, to tour and sample wine , fish, all water sports, excellent shopping, hiking, mountain trails, nature trails. Dog paradise- animals welcome on the property. This is a quiet 'get-away' spot that is very private.
