Pochomil:
Pochomil is on the Pacific Coast, just an hour from Managua, via good roads.
The house is located in Pochomil Nuevo, which is the newer part of town. There are about 30 homes in this area, on a little hill on the beach. It's a good beach; they clean it several times a week, and it's easy to swim in. Good boogey boarding, and beach break surfing. You can walk for miles either way. We have a caretaker onsite, and daily maid service.
There are a couple of restaurants that will deliver.
It's best to load up on groceries in Managua, on your way to Pochomil. There are no big grocery stores in the immediate vicinity, just little pulperias (corner stores). There's a new grocery store 20 minutes away in San Rafael Del Sur.
Directions Managua to Pochomil:
Directions are below:
It's 45 kilometers, or 30 miles, from Managua.
Drive to Pochomil/Masachapa. Most people prefer taking the Pan Am hwy south, and then take the 2nd left (about 10 kilomerts) to Masachapa.
This road leads to a 'T' intersection where you turn Right towards the Beach, Masachapa and Pochomil.
You reach a point down that road where a Green sign indicates Pochomil to the left. Turn left there. (If you continue straight you'll end up in Masachapa.)
You will see the entrance to Pochomil on your right, turn into the entrance and you will have to pay a small entrance fee, 25 cordobas per car. Continue on to the T and turn left. Then veer right across a small bridge, past some restaurants and bars, continue straight and follow the road. It will turn into a dirt road and then a stone road. When you can see the beach, the house is on the left, orange with an orange gate.
If you get lost, it's 3 or 4 houses up the hill from the Hotel Ticomo
Directions Granada to Pochomil:
You leave Granada heading towards Managua.
Turn left towards Catarina at the big off-set round about before entering Masaya.
Turn right at the intersection just past the entrance to Catarina heading towrads San Marcos.
Pass San Marcos. When the road comes to a halt at a 'T' intersection, turn right towrads 'El Cruzcero and Managua.
Once you reach the top of the hill, continue past the big landmark (and the first left turn) and go 400 meters and turn left at the first intersection towards San Raphael del Sur.
That road leads to another 'T' intersection where you turn Right towards the Beach, Masachapa and Pochomil.
You reach a point down that road where a Green sign indicates Pochomil to the left. Turn left there. (If you continue straight you'll end up in Masachapa.)
You will see the entrance to Pochomil on your right. From this point, follow the directions as stated above.
Golf:
Here's a way from the airport to the Carretera Sur that's five minutes longer, but probably easier:
1. Go south out of the airport, towards town.
2. After you go over the big bridge, follow signs towards Metro Centro. You'll make a left at one of the lights. The one I go left at has a Chinese Restaurant, but it's the next light that might actually say Metro Centro. Either way, just follow the signs to Metro Centro.
3. Metro Centro is a huge rotunda, with a couple of gas stations and a huge yellow hotel called the Intercontinental, and a shopping mall.
4. From the rotunda, follow the signs to Carretera Masaya (towards the Intercontinental). Go straight for about a mile and you'll hit another rotunda, rotunda Centro America. Go right out of this rotunda and within a mile you'll be on the Suburbana Highway.
5. Follow the Suburbana until it dead ends. Go left.
6. You'll pass three or four huge blue tanks on your right. At the next light, go straight, not left
7. In twenty minutes you'll see a huge billboard for Montelimar resort, and you'll see signs for Gran Pacifica resort, pointing to the left. Go left. Gran Pacifica is close to Pochomil/Massachappa, perhaps 6 miles.
8. When the road finally dead ends into a T, 30 minutes after the big billboard, you'll go towards the right, towards Pochomil/Massachapa, and the ocean.
9. When you get into Massachapa, you'll see a sign pointing to the left for Pochomil. Go left.
