Hacienda del Mar, is a two level townhome centrally located within walking distance to most attractions in Rincon. Our home boasts rustic style; fine wood work, tropical colors throughout, and its overall design is unique to Hacienda Del Mar. The home is nestled among lush tropical vegetation, and other homes in the Vista Azul development of Rincon, in a row of other vacation home rentals. Our home was renovated to serve as a place of relaxation that can easily accommodate 6 adults comfortably. Each bedroom has A/C and its own outdoor space. Many of our guests have enjoyed our outdoor spaces during the morning hours to enjoy their first cup of coffee while taking in the ocean air and reading their favorite book. Downtown Rincon can be reached by foot in about 10 minutes, and the beach is also within walking distance. Rincon’s Public Beach (El Balneario) can be reached by foot in a couple of minutes, and Rincon’s Marina Beach is also reachable by foot in about 10 minutes.

The home is located near restaurants, Rincón's town center, supermarkets, surf shops and local bars. The area offers breathtaking views of the Caribbean ocean from the shore of from the hillside if you like to walk or take a short drive. Take a drive up the street from the home and jump on route 413 'the road to happiness'... grab a side street and start climbing up the hill sides that will reveal views of the Caribbean sea and Desecheo Island. During the winter months, you can find great surf - waves can some times grow to 20-25 feet and break in open water.

    Cancellation Policy: You must cancel no less than 30 days before the start of your rental period. If you decide to cancel within this time frame, and the period can be re-rented, you will receive a full refund less a cancellation fee of 50% of the $500 security deposit ($250). If the cancellation period can not be rented, only 50% of the entire amount contracted shall be refunded.

    Deposits: A $500 security deposit is required for every stay. The security deposit plus 50% of the cost of your total stay is required to reserve the home. Please inquire for additional information.

    Other Policies: Please inquire about pets, and children. We reserve the right to not rent the home if you are having more than 6 guests as as our occupancy limit is 6 occupants.
  • We offer special arrangements for newlyweds, birthdays, anniversaries, wedding receptions, etc. Please also inquire within.

Your house was absolutley beautiful and perfect for us. I loved the woodwork, and the garden areas. I enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch off the master bedroom each morning. I would drink my coffee and read my bible. The beds were comfortable although I have to admit it took a while to get used to the loud chirping of the Puerto Rican frogs! We loved how we were within walking distance of the beach and ice cream parlor. My daughter and niece learned to surf at Maria's Beach. We went snorkling at The Steps. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed it there and would go back. We would recommend your place to anyone who asked. Thanks again and have a great year.'

Everything was well kept and met our expectation. It was so relaxing we only went out one night to Villa Cofresi to have some 'Pirata's' Coconut Rum Drinks. We used the yaquzzi a lot as a pond of refresing cool water. Did not like the nearby beach. We would stay again next year if possible '

Review by M. Templeman, Missouri: 'We loved the house. It was clean, spacious, and had everything you would need for a great vacation. The only complaint I had is that the 3rd bedroom's bed is very lumpy and uncomfortable. The other 2 beds were great though. The shower, which is not shown in the pictures, is huge with 3 shower heads and a big bench! The thing that isn't mentioned here, but should be, is how excellent the location of this place is. About a 10 minute or less walk is some awesome snorkeling right off the beach. That was such a treat to find. I would return to Puerto Rico just to stay in this house again!'

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE!! TOO MANY MOSQUITOS!!

This house, BEAUTIFUL. Very clean! It was suppose to be our "going-out-with-a-bang" house. We were all very excited & looking forward to staying here. The beach; RIGHT there, the kitchen was very nice, we were super excited to get in that jacuzzi & have the doors open like shown in the pictures, & hang out on the balconies & such, but it was sad to realize that we would be devoured there. THE BAD: When we got there Olga not ONCE mentioned anything about mosquitos & left as soon as she could. It also doesnt say anything about mosquitos in the ad, which I'm sure would be very helpful to know. She was very nice about answering our questions, but we could tell she wanted out of there. We soon knew why. We were bit w/in minutes of being alone there. We searched the house for spray & found 3 empty bottles. I tried to call Olga & Jason the next day & neither returned my call (i called Jason at work so maybe thats why he didnt call back) When Olga did arrive on the day of our departure, I mentioned to her about the mosquitoes to which she said that there is a HUGE fan in the living room that she said for us to turn on to get them away, but neither one of us (& there was 4 of us) remember her saying that. I'm still itching from all the bites. lol The jacuzzi, we didnt even bother w/ cause of all the mosquitos around, it was a breeding ground. The BR door to 1 of the bedrooms when u closed it was very difficult to open. We thought maybe it was just the area, but surprisingly enough walking outside in the front there were NO mosquitos. It was all in the house.
THE GOOD: This house is BEAUTIFUL! there is no question about it. it was very clean, everything in order, ac was a very nice touch to the bedrooms. It's in walking distance to the beach. I loved the fact that it was right across the street from a school, we got to see Puerto Rican students & get some really great pics. Its close to alot of touristy-surfer-bars. We had a GREAT TIME doing the night life stuff. A snorkel & sail charter (i wouldn't suggest Katarina try another 1) RIGHT around the corner next to Shipwreck Rest. DELICIOUS!! Tip: dont eat at the mexican seafood spot next door, microwaved the food in our face Grocery store; right down the street, ECONO. A humble souvenir store La Cabana that has very nice & cheap souvenirs right on 115. Rincon is beautiful. If u dont mind bug spray & hungry bugs the whole time, THEN I recommend staying here. I would DEF stay again if they raided the entire house FIRST
Owner's Response: Thank you. We understand mosquitoes in tropical environments is definitely a factor; we the owners are not exempt from bites during our visits. Not only are they aggressive but the volume is high, even more so during spring time.

Olga, our property manager is asked to provide all of our guests with repellent coils, and should also suggest to power on the ceiling fans and floor fan. This combination has been successful for us. Nonetheless, spring time brings a lot of showers thus creating the ideal environment for mosquitoes.

The perimeter around our backyard is lined with vegetation for privacy, but unfortunately it does attract mosquitoes. We try to find a balance to make sure we maintain privacy in this area. This is why there are no mosquitoes in the front terrace. Every spring we continually prune our vegetation aggressively. This task helps but due to the high volume of guests during the month of April, it was difficult to schedule this task. Our future guests can rest assured this has been addressed.

Our property manager is responsible for giving our guests a walk-through upon their arrival, and should be on call 24/7. She is aware of having to notify the owners of any complaints right away. This is a managerial issue we, the owners, are currently addressing with our property manager. Unfortunately the owners are not available at all times due to other responsibilities, but we do encourage our guests to contact us at any time.

The door and lock set to the bedroom is being replaced to address the issue with it being difficult to open. Olga reported the door suffered from damage inflicted by previous guests which affected the mechanics of door knob and lock set.

We truly appreciate all commentary and strive to improve our home and accommodations for all of our guests. Thank you.

We were not happy

We were very disappointed in our accommodations. Though the beds were comfortable the home was not not cleaned to our standards. The upstairs had obvious water damage and smelled of mildew. Mold was visible in some areas. The coffee maker was non-functional. We left a day earlier then planned. Upon arriving home the owners questioned whether we should get our deposit back as they claimed we had broken the cook top. We finally did get our deposit back but non the less we were not happy with our accommodations. We would not recommend Hacienda Del Mar in Rincon PR to anyone.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to address any of our guests concerns & strive to provide the best accommodations possible.

The following is intended to inform our future guest of our procedures & of how management/the owners handle these situations.

Management encourages guests to report issues, concerns and overall status of the home immediately, if it fails to meet the respective guest's standards. The guest left a day early without prior notification, and only notified management of the unacceptable conditions after the owners raised questions pertaining to damages incurred to the property.

Our check-out procedure includes the signing of a "check-out" checklist where guests can alert us of any problems, and/or provide feedback. Prior guests had not notified management of any damages, or of any non-functioning items. Management discovered the broken stove only after the guest departed the premises. There was no notification of a broken stove upon their arrival, during the guest's entire stay, nor was it noted on our "check-out" document.

Handwritten commentary noted by the guest on the "check-out" document was not exceptional, but we welcome this commentary. The commentary included complaints regarding mildew and a broken coffee maker.

Quoted from "check-out" document...
"Strong mildew mold upstairs; coffee maker not working. Front fountain breeds mosquitoes. But house was clean - beds comfortable. Thank you."

The owners contacted the guest after obtaining a property condition report and statement from our property manager. Our policy, and we hope that of other vacation property owners, is to contact guests to request information regarding property damages. To address an incident resulting in property damage, management followed what it is believed to be a logical step; the guest was contacted to discuss the issue & to determine if they could offer information to assist in resolving the matter. Management had no other course of action and was committed to investigating the incident resulting in damage to an appliance costing over $500 to repair. The guest denied having broken the stove, and their answer was trusted. The entire security deposit was refunded.

As with other guests, problems are, and have been resolved, in a reasonable time frame, but upon notification. Problems such as replacing a $30 broken coffee maker, cleanliness, can be addressed as soon as management/owners are notified.

A Wonderful Vacation!

We had a wonderful time at the Hacienda del Mar. The owners were very accomodating with a change on dates and the Manager was very friendly and willing to assist. I will look forward to reserving this location again in the future.

Overall this is a nice property.
The only problem was the loss of running water for a day and a half. This was difficult to be sanitary in the bathroom and nixed the ability to shower. The rental was not equipped w toilet paper upon arrival. The toaster did not work either. The place was clean and well cared for. The back up water pump did not work when the town water was not available. I would rent this property again as it is close to the surfing beaches and to town. Overall a good stay. The street in front is very busy also.
Owner's Response: Hello Lee - Thank you for this feedback. We discussed your review and overall stay with our property manager. It is our understanding that there was toilette paper upon your arrival. The issue seems to have been with only providing one roll per bathroom. This was an oversight on our part and it has been addressed. We always provide two rolls per bathroom per stay.

The problem with the toaster has also been adressed. We were not aware it was not working so a replacement was purchased. Next time, please notify us immediately and a new one will be provided to you right away.

As far as not having running water, this issue was out of our control as it was due to a problem with the water authority in the town of Rincon. It is unfortunate the backup water sistern did not kick in. As you discovered, the problem was due to a tripped circuit breaker in our roof. Detecting something like this is difficult unless an event like this surfaces.

We are happy you enjoyed your stay. Please do not hesitate to contact us again while planning your next trip to Rincon, Puerto Rico.
