Casa Tortuga Mayan Style Beach House:
Casa Tortuga offers a seamless flow between interior and exterior spaces with many windows, the large patio and second level veranda. The natural beauty of the area is highlighted through the use of warm traditional hardwoods in the exposed beam and pillar design, and through the use of tropical color; lime, mango, banana and hibiscus on the walls, beds, floors and tile. Hand painted and richly colorful talavera tile in cobalt blue, café, mango and green cover the kitchen and bathroom counter tops and highlight the large showers. Exotic artwork and paintings of Mexico accent the walls.
The natural environment is integral to your experience and is invited into Casa Tortuga. Warm tropical breezes blow through the many windows. Peer out any window and watch the sun rise over the bay. Birds are as close as the tops of the trees swaying just outside the second story windows. The sounds of the surf provide a perfect white noise and sleep environment.
Children can play outside in freedom. Adults may never go inside and often spend their entire stay in their favorite deck chair positioned expertly under a slowly circulating overhead ceiling fan. Unlike most other homes on Soliman Bay, the grounds of Casa Tortuga encompass two large lots. The beach jungle and the mangrove forest are neighbors as are the tropical birds and lizards. Bring your binoculars and bird book. You won’t be disappointed.
