Retired Air Force Technician, went to see the world, found paradise here in Hawaii. Just want you to have an inexpensive stay here in Hawaii. I had come several time to always complain how expensive it was for accommodations , I'm here to change that!!
Michael Hammond purchased this house in 2005
It had everything that the modern world has, but quiet and laid back. That's it in a coconut shell!!
Quiet subdivision with little traffic. Not far from anything, but away from the hussle and bustle. whether for work or pleasure, it's right for all occasions
Dear Mike and Jacquie
Thank you so much for your wonderful hospitality. It meant so much to come "home" rather than "back to a room" The extra touches were very much appreciated. Snacks, condiments, cold drinks, snorkel equipment, washer and dryer and so much more really added to the comfort of the experience. We loved the screened porch for morning coffee, listening to the symphony of bird songs, then at night the frogs would strike up the band! I recorded both so maybe we can recreated the experience back in icy Alaska It was a pleasure to stay here .. Thank you again for a lovely experience..
Mt two teenagers and I had a wonderful time in Hawaii. We spent three days on the Kona side and 4 days on the Hilo side of the island. (it wasn't long enough!) We want to come back as soon as we can. My kids have not stopped talking about it (even though it has been five months). Jacqueline had the place in perfect shape and she thought of everything! I would absolutely rent this home again. It was great!
Hale Sweet Hale was the perfect home for our family! It was located on the rainy side of the island but it didn't rain all the time and we still did everything we wanted to do. The house was super clean, had all the amenities of home including coolers, beach towels, and beach chairs, and the owner was easy to access. The owner greeted us with a phone call to be sure everything was as expected and we felt comfortable calling to say "Thanks" before we left the island. Pahoa is a quaint, little town with great restaurants. Day trips to Volcano National Park, Mauna Kea, tide pools, and South Point were all easy access from this home. The house even had snorkel equipment available to use at the tide pools. It was a wonderful home to return to after a day of hiking to the green sand beach and jumping off a 50ft cliff at South Point. We did so many things we never found time to cook on the BBQ grill that was available. The local grocery stores always had fresh poke, too! The decor of the home fit the Hawaiian theme and the flowers and fruit trees surrounding the property were wonderful. We have already recommended this house to friends that want a quiet, away from tourist and hotel noise place. The neighbors were great and we felt safe staying here. HomeAway and the owners of Hale Sweet Hale made our vacation fantastic and affordable.
Hale Sweet Hale was the absolute PERFECT place for our family to stay while exploring the Big Island! It is located on the lush, green, quiet, and beautiful Hilo side of the island, just minutes from the airport and town center. The neighborhood is so amazingly peaceful and wonderful too. We went just down the street to fish on the amazing rocky coast line and caught some grouper. At night, the tree frogs sing you to sleep with the most beautiful rainforest sounds...I've never fallen asleep faster or more peacefully! The home is perfectly appointed with ALL the essentials, and lots of extras. The owners have thought of everything, it truly is like being at home, yet in such a more beautiful setting. We stayed for 5 nights and wished we could stay longer. The home is perfectly clean, amazingly spacious and gave us everything we needed to do laundry, cook meals, relax, watch TV, whatever we wanted to do after a long day out touring the volcano. It's just a short drive to the visitor center at the top of the volcano too, much closer than those folks who chose to stay in Kona! We would never stay anywhere else if we returned to the Big Island and would tell our friends and family to stay here too, Hale is the best!
Stayed here for 9 nights while looking at property in the area. The house is great, so much nicer than a hotel. Everything you need is here, even a large DVD collection if you need to watch TV. Fresh fish on the BBQ every night, just drive a few miles to Pahoa to shop. Neighbor on one side only, very friendly. The sounds of the jungle at night were incredable, almost expect to see monkeys swinging thru the trees. The birds are the morning alarm clock.
Mike, you were great to deal with and the house is fantastic... I will be back.
There were four of us staying for two weeks. We found the home to be very clean, comfortable and lived up to its discription. It is in a quiet neighborhood and though you must drive eveywhere it is not an out-of -the-way location. The tide pools are within a 20 minute drive but I must admit we never did find that nude beach, much to our wives delight.
The owners are friendly, helpful and accomidating.
There is nearby snokeling and you are close enough Hilo to enjoy what the city has to offer.
We have recommended this home to our friends who want to spend some time in the Hilo area.
During our stay the weather was almost perfect with only one day of rain.
We hope to come back again someday and stay here when we do.
Hale Sweet Hale was our home away from home. The owners thought of everything that would be needed for a vacation home. It was neat, clean, and had a very warm, homey feeling the minute we walked in. And actually, the pictures on line didn't do the house justice. The only regret we had was that we didn't really get to enjoy the house as much as we would have liked due to trying to get to see everything on the Big Island. Our favorite place in the house was the lanai. What a place to relax! Pahoa is about a 30 minute drive from Hilo so if you don't mind the drive, Hale Sweet Hale is a wonderful home away from home. Mahalo.
Walk or take a short drive down the road and you will come to our beautiful ocean front park with picnic tables and lots of coconut palms. Enjoy the gorgeous ocean view and listen to the surf crashing on the lava rocks or watch the whales when they migrate here in the winter months to the Hawaiian waters. Five minutes away is the laid back town of Pahoa where the sidewalks are wooden. Here you will find our supermarket, gift shops and many restaurants from Thai, Mexican, Chinese, Italian, etc. of course we also have Subway, Burger King and KFC.
A 15-minute drive will bring you to the gorgeous Ahalnui Beach Park where you can soak and relax in the 90* geothermal heat tide pool while listening to the surf crashing on the other side. Some of the best snorkeling can be found at the tide pools in Kapoho just minutes from this home. Day trips include a visit to Volcanoes National Park, Waipio Valley, Kona and South Point. Check out the ZOO, Mac Nut Farm, ZIP Line or Farmers Market.
Other Activities: Neighborhood park over looking ocean, great for whale watching, kite flying, or just enjoying the weather and reading a good book. Don't forget to look out over the water to spy a Honu.
Golf: Several golf courses in the area. Pick and choose your level and just enjoy the great day on the greens. Does it really get any better than this,,,,I don't think so!
Ski: Believe it or not, if you come in Winter and your a ski nut, head to the top of the mountain and ski down a few hundred years. Have friend with 4x4 truck pick you up and take you back to the top. Bring down some snow and have a snowball fight on the beach.
