We arrived at Ty Cerrig after a week at Disneyland Paris with the grandchildren in search of a period of quiet recovery. Despite an apparently remote location we easily found the gite which was accurately described and well-equipped for our needs. The property was well presented and clean and provided for all our needs - comfortable lounge, comfortable bed, good reliable shower with plenty of hot water and a spacious kitchen. We enjoyed the wood burning stove and candles in the evenings. It is remote so there are few local serices - no boulangerie nearby, the supermarket in the local village did not open this year and the village bar stocked a few groceries - usually to order but this did not present us with any problems.
On outing days we wandered off to the north coast - Morlaix; the west coast the Crozon Peninsula and the south Coast at Concarneau as well as a number of interesting towns and villages inland. Our leisurely routine usually saw a litlle wander, often around the weekly market whose timings helped decide our destination, followed by a long lunch another wander or more often a boat trip ending in a return to Ty Cerrig to feast on the delicacies we had bought at that or the previous day's market. We certainly ate well, read our books and slept well. Some days we did not stir from the cottage - sometimes du too the weather but also due to indolence and on those days we were always able to find the sun, the shade or shelter from the wind within the grounds of the cottage. A car was essential but there were so many places within an easy drive on local uncrowded roads and if we had had the energy for a really active break there was a lot we could have done. Fortunately we did not have the energy.
We were not on the receiving end of one poor meal and we ate at a wide ranges of eateries and prices - the sea food was excellent. Quimper indor market on Saturday morning provided a feast of local specialities which we thoroughly enjoyed. All of the boat trips - Bay of Morlaix; estuary of the Odet; Nantes - Brest canal were good value and less energetic than walking.
We would recommend the cottage to anyone who was not put off by a remote location and who was prepared to explore the area based on a little planning using the information provided in the cottage.
