Charming Chatham Cottage

Chatham is, by far, the best town on the Cape. It has a charming, picturesque downtown with unique shops and a variety of good restaurants. We especially enjoyed the beach bar at Chatham Bars Inn for lunch and returned more than once to the Squire in downtown Chatham and to Clancy's in a nearby village. The beach by Chatham Lighthouse is spectacular--you can walk for miles on an absolutely pristine beach. We enjoyed seeing the harbor seals both on our beach walks and at the nearby fishing pier, where the seals come in hopes of getting some scraps from the fishing boats as they are unloaded.
Although we were never at a loss for things to do in Chatham itself, it is within an hour's drive of the rest of the sights on the Cape, including Provincetown, the National Seashore, and Hyannisport. It was only a fifteen minute drive from Chatham to catch the ferry to Nantucket Island. We definitely recommend a trip to Nantucket.
The cottage is in an absolutely perfect location--a five minute drive from downtown, the lighthouse, and the Atlantic Ocean, as well as a five minute walk to the beach at Nantucket Sound. Located on a quiet street, the cottage is only a short walk down a neighborhood path to the water. It is also only a short bike ride from the cottage to the Cape Cod bike trail, a paved trail that goes for miles around the Cape.
The cottage itself is quaint and cozy. We found it very clean and well equipped with everything we needed for our stay, including such modern amenities as internet and cable television.
After our initial two-week stay, we were anxious to return the following year and are looking forward to what will, hopefully, be many more visits to Chatham. We recommended this cottage to friends, who enjoyed their stay as well.
