Historical mansion, recently renovated to a very high standard, with Moorish-Andalusian covered Patio, semicircular Mirador and east- and west wing. The latter accommodates 2 separate independent apartments. Dominating the steep shore of Tarifa the mansion enjoys the simply best views of the Moroccan coastline in 14km distance. Tranquilly located within a nature park, but only 500m walking distance to the old town centre (4km with car). 200m from a small intimate sand-rocky beach. The large famous beaches of the Costa de la Luz in ca. 1,5km. Both enchanting apartments named 'Tanger' and 'Tarifa' are quiet and safe and provide complete privacy. Both are tastefully furnished and richly equipped. - 'Tanger' and 'Tarifa' will be remembered with pleasant memories by guests with cultivated lifestyle who appreciate the special spirit of this house and enjoy to live between two seas and two continents in the really southernmost place of Continental Europe.

Charming romantic sleeping room with twins (can be linked), elegant wardrobe, 2 chests. Small ensuite bathroom (bath, bidet, cupboards). A 2nd sleeping room (studio), just beside, with twins, inbuilt wardrobe, fridge/freezer and ensuite shower room (sh., bidet). From all rooms, even from bathroom (except kitchen with window to the great Patio) breathtaking views of the sea (your imagination: 'to be aboard'), views of Tangier, harbour, castle and town of Tarifa. Tarifa, facing the Northern coast of Africa, surrounded by nature parks, to the west the magnificent white beaches, is a very versatile town where you will find everything in the numerous interesting shops, bars and restaurants. Market hall, supermarkets, banks, medical centre. Spanish language, guitar, flamenco classes. Wherever you go in the ancient town centre you feel the predominant Moorish history and the centuries of the 'Reconquista'. Prehistoric residuals and signs of the Phoenician and Roman civilisations. Starting point for many excursions into the cultural and historical heritage of Western Andalusia and into the spectacular Sierra de Ronda and Sierra de Grazalema (hill top white villages) and the famous Coto Donana. Broad choice of sporting activities. Dolphin and whale watches by boat. Bird migration between Europe and Africa are to observe from the property. Ferries to Tangier several times daily (1-3 days guided tours to Northern Morocco and its picturesque markets)

Further details for both apartments:: Air condition is not necessary. The breeze of the ocean, thick walls, high ceilings and special windows guarantee an always balanced climate and provide an agreeable and cosy feeling. Due to the ancient construction, responsible restoration with natural materials (marble, first class tiles etc.) and solid wooden furniture the apartments fulfil basic ecological standards. Concerns apt. Tanger: On request in advance of longer staying guests change of outfit of living/dining room into salon possible (due to a seating corner up to 4 in kitchen).

There are numerous possibilities on the huge unspoilt private ground to find your individual place. Enjoy the beautiful hiking trails leading directly from the property into the surrounding natural park area and along the wild, still virgin coast.

Superb property with great views to Africa

This property has been converted from a military lookout and has a lot of history. We stayed in appt. Tanger which has superb views over the straits to Africa. The owners, usually resident onsite, are lovely people for whom no request is too much trouble. The appartments are tastefully furnished with high quality fixtures & fitting and we could fault nothing in that respect. Everything has been thought of.
A car is recommended as, although the property is only a short distance from the town (on foot), the driving distance is around 3 miles partly over unmade roads. If you enjoy walking and can manage a fairly steep path the walk into town takes only around 10 minutes.
Although remote you will feel very safe as all windows have both double glazing and shutters not forgetting metal bars left over from its military past. The property is fenced and there are access gates which are kept locked at all times. It lies within a conservation area and there are many wild flowers etc to be seen.
Things to do: The windsurfing beaches are within sight of the property. It is possible to take the fast ferry from the port to Tangier but be warned, it can be expensive at nearly £100 for a day trip for 2 foot passengers. Gibraltar is a 20 minute car ride away and there are numerous other places to visit locally.
The town boasts several supermarkets, lots of nice cafes & restaurants and a very modern internet shop.
Be careful if you use a mobile phone. The Spanish networks are fine but at the property it is often possible to get logged on to Meditel which is N. African - therefore prices can skyrocket. Just be careful to check what network you're on.
All in all this property comes highly recommended in every respect, location/views, the appartment itself and, as already mentionned the very friendly owners.
We will return in the future.
