Hi Molly,
Sophie and I loved our extended vacation on the creek this year, 3 weeks of total being away from it all was bliss.
As always the cabin is pristine, totally homelike, and just the place to put aside work, kick back and relax.
With my age mandated slowdown has come the search for easier ways to do the interesting things, such as: the parking lot half way up Amicolola Falls with the paved trail right to the perfect photo spot on the falls, or the easy trails in the Asca area, or a wonderfully relaxing day at the Atlanta Botanical Garden topped off by a fabulous lunch at Pappadeaux Seafood. (Double yummy).
The fall festival in Dahlonoga was super, the shops are great and it's an easy walking town. Helen was not as I remembered it from 25 years ago, no more high end shops, just t shirts, souveniers and tons of people. Even the food there was mediocre. Ellijay and Blue Ridge are great walking towns, can't remember the name of the little restaurant in Ellijay that is so good, but Danielles Great Eats in Blue Ridge has outdoor dining with a dish of water and a treat for the resident dog. And one hasn't experienced down home Georgia til they go to R&A Orchards and try the fruit, the native veggies and, of course, the fried pies. Their regular pies are awesome also.
One of the best things about this cabin and location is that there is something in the area for all ages and all interests. And of course, you Molly, are the ultimate host. In all of my years of traveling this still ranks as my favorite experience in renting a house.
I'm already counting the days until Sophie and I can come back up to GA next fall. Til then we wish all who come after/before us a wonderful and happy vacation.
