Could use some updates

The listing description was accurate regarding the location, layout, most amenities, etc., and the owner provided good customer service and was very friendly, but my family and I have a few suggestions. The carpeting needs to be replaced since it is dirty and most of the seams are gaping. The interior could use a paint job. The blinds in the room that I slept in were missing a piece and another piece was broken in half so I felt like the neighbors could look right in at night. (The houses are very close to one another.) There is a clock in only one of the three bedrooms. We could never get the gas grill to work right. We used it twice and even replaced the gas tank, but it would not cook properly. The exterior lights on the lanai would not work, so it was even more difficult to try to cook on the grill at night. My husband replaced the bulbs in the exterior lights, but they still would not work. All three beds were uncomfortable. There were some pleasant surprises: there was a high chair and childrens's toys which came in very handy for my 23-month old granddaughter. There were many pool and beach toys. The pool is surrounded by thick foliage so it is very private (but there is limited deck space). This is the third Home Away home that I have rented, and it was by far the most disappointing and the most expensive (it was during high season and the other rentals were during low season). Overall, the property met our needs, but I would not stay here again.
Owner's Response: Before this review was submitted the broken blinds had been replaced.The gas grill was replaced as well. Because of the environment and extensive use a grill lasts for about a year. The exterior lights on the lanai do work. There are two switches that can operate the lights and one of them has a dimmer. If the dimmer is turned down the other switch becomes useless. One simple phone call could have resoled this issue and saved the trouble of replacing the light bulbs. We encourage our guests to communicate any problems immediately as we can resolve most of them quickly.
My family members stay in this house frequently and we think the beds are comfortable. I guess it is a matter of taste. The carpets are chemically cleaned once a year and are professionally vacuumed before each new party. They are not new, but they are in a good condition. We perform regular maintenance in the house and regularly replace items that wear out (towels, pillows, kitchen items, etc.).
