Traditional Spanish house in the centre of unspoiled fishing village. This quiet narrow residential street leads directly to the beach (200m) with no main roads to endanger children. Charming house, very individual, lots of original features. Large fire place (firewood included), marble floors and staircase, high ceilings, 3/4 bedrooms, two bathrooms, 4 terraces with fabulous panoramic views of sea and mountains. Close to all shops, bars, restaurants and traditional daily market for fresh fish, meat, fruit and vegetables. Bread delivered daily to your door. There are several discos in town which young people can walk safely to. Carboneras is on the edge of the National Park (Cabo de Gata) with 40 kms of unspoilt, secluded beaches. 20 minutes from Mojacar and 10 minutes from Agua Amarga Wi Fi on top floor,free access

Carboneras enjoys a Spanish way of life, which has not changed as other coastal Spanish towns. A traditional Spanish village with no high rise buildings and narrow streets, there are shops, bars, restaurants and unspoilt beaches great for scuba diving. The climate is warm all year round and has the most sunshine of anywhere in Europe. Of the many characteristics of this area, its contrasts, film sets and sceneries, its wildlife and history, none surprises the visitor as much as its light. A pure, intense light which gives Almería , along with St Joh of Acre, Athens and Syracuse, the highest number of daylight hours in the world (3100 hours of sunshine per year). Along its coastline we can find villages ideal for relaxing and hidden-away places where nature reigns. The quality of light and the unique landscape have enchanted film directors: from the dunes of Cabo de Gata–Níjar Natural Park, where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed, to the Tabernas desert, site of so many spaghetti westerns

  • 2 doubles, 1 twin, 1 sleeping gallery, 1 small single room downstairs, 1 double in a room on the on the roof which is only available in the summer.but has a superb view of the sea and free wi-fi. In the winter the roof room is not practical as the doors are louvred and hence cold..Irented the house to 2 families , total 14 people .. and they came back twice , so i suppose it must have been comfortable enough..in June There is wi fi connection if you bring a laptop

Notes: There is a tv and dvd player, so you can watch DVDs or listen to Cd's . Its easy to park nearby , but there is no private parkin. There are 4 terraces, 3 with sea views. There is an internet cafe on the same street as the house. There is a fifth bedroom on the top floor, but its only suitable in hot weather .There is an open fireplaxce..visible in photo,

July this year, my young daughter and I visited Carboneras, a traditional Spanish fishing village on the coast of Almeria.

Unlike, a statement I read from a recognised ‘travel bible’ and also a very poor review by someone who could not have been there, Carboneras is far from being industrial.

What I found was a charming, eclectic close community of people who took pride in their village and welcomed you as one of them in their many soirees.

The place we chose to stay in was a townhouse in the heart of the village and a short walk to a beautiful unspoilt beach, was far beyond my expectations.

The owner of the property, had put a lot of attention to detail in keeping with the traditional ‘Moorish’ theme of the area, everywhere you looked were dazzled with interesting features.

This would suit someone into eclectic interiors. My favourite was the centre ‘atrium’ of the building and the upstairs bathroom. Unlike one chaps view of his supposed stay, the dishwasher was not in the middle of the kitchen as he claimed, but in line with the rest of the kitchen units.

The owner was very helpful with his knowledge on places. One of those places was a bar/restaurant on the seafront that served the best grilled fish.

All in all we both had a great time and would highly recommend this place to anyone.
