Come and stay at the freshly updated West Wind Resort 'Suite Cherry' lakeside cottage. This lakeside resort has 11 cottages with 400' of water frontage. Inside this recently updated quaint, cozy retreat, we've updated it with ceramic tiled kitchen and bathroom floors, two new beds (2013), Dish Satellite TV (2013), along with a burst of fresh colors that will brighten your stay. You can let your kids play on the large playground and run safely throughout the resort property without worrying about busy streets. You can take them down to the sandy beach where all of you will enjoy the warm Michigan sun. A personal boat slip is provided (up to 22 foot) and also a place on Lake Leelanau to rent boats. Dad will want to take the kids out on this great fishing lake to catch walleye, bass, and pan fish, and the wives can slip away to take in the wonderful boutiques and shops in Sutton's Bay and Traverse City.

I-75 North to 72 West towards Traverse City

Through Kalkaska

72 turns into 37 along the East and West Bays of Traverse City

Through Traverse City turn left at the 72/22 junction

West on 72 for about 2 miles

Turn right on Bougai at the traffic light

Take Bugai for about 9 miles (name changes to S. Lake Leelanau)

Look for the West Wind Resort sign on the left

Entrance is approximately 150' past the sign

You will never tire of the more than 27 golf courses in the area, and West Grand Traverse Bay offers more water-sports such as sailing the Tall Ship, afternoon catamaran rides, para sailing and jet ski rentals. Take a drive out to Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore and don't miss the scenic Pierce Stocking Drive with outstanding views of Lake Michigan Hike throughout many of the trails in Sleeping Bear or take the kids to the 110 foot dune climb. Some of the finest restaurants in all of Michigan are located in this area, ranging from casual family to fine dining. If malls are your thing, Cherryland Mall and several large retailers have moved into southwestern Traverse City.

This is a great location to use as a base to enter the Walleye Tournament here in May, or go to nearby Suttons Bay for their Art Fair or Jazz Festival in the summer. The Traverse city 'Cherry Festival' is one of the areas hottest places to be in July. With featured music groups and a carnival for the kids.

Notes

  • $650 TO $1095 FOR WEEKLY STAYS
  • We require a $500 deposit within 5 days of reserving your date. The balance is due 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. A refundable $200 excessive cleaning/damage fee is also due 2 weeks prior to your arrival date. Bed and bath linens are available for an additional $30. There is a fee of 35% of the deposit if canceled with in 30 days of reservation date. Arrival time is 3pm. Check out is 11am.

We enjoyed our stay at the Barkers’ cottage very much. It is a great place to “get away from it all,” since there is no WiFi and the TV is just connected to the DVD/VCR player, but everything else needed is there. Lake Leelanau is a long (15 miles), beautiful lake, perfect temperature, great for boating and fishing. Closest stores and restaurants are in Suttons Bay, or Lake Leelanau town (check out the Pedaling Beans Coffee House), about 15 minutes away. This is a perfect location for exploring all of the Leelanau peninsula as well as Traverse City.

Although there are technically seven beds, that would feel quite crowded.
The photos give one a good idea of the place.

The Barkers are fine landlords and were eager for us to enjoy ourselves.

My husband, baby and I had a wonderful time. The cottage was cozy, clean and perfect for the 3 of us. The lake and the beach were right in front of us. The sunsets were beautiful. i would reccomend this rental to anyone.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

The property is very well maintained and comfortable.

The cabin is perfect for 4 adults but I would not recommend 6 adults.

The kitchen has the utensils necessary to cook a meal. It also has an outside barbeque.

Overall, if you are looking for a property on the lake with comfortable accomodations, this property is for you.

The owners were very accomodating and down to earth. They seemed genuinely concerned that we would enjoy our stay.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Families with Young Children
